Re: Leonard Cohen credited as co-writer of new Coldplay song

I watched the YouTube live broadcast of Coldplay's concert in Madrid last night (good but not quite up to their Glastonbury 2011 standard, but that would have been almost impossible to equal) in which they played a few of the tracks from this new album. I don't think they sang Up With The Birds feat...

Re: Hey,That's No Way... Contemporary-Retro version by Nemo

I like your approach Nemo, this is a very nice version. You achieved what you aimed for, a clear stripped-back version, luckily you had the talent and the quality of voice to accomplish this successfully. Well done.

Re: Leonard recites That is What I Heard You Say in new TV s

I dunno fellas, we have to be careful not to "pose all hot and high" here. Leonard himself issues his recordings commercially, i.e. to earn money, as well as displaying them as his art, after all he has to eat. He has always been generous with people who wanted to use his music/poetry. He and Sony g...

SINGER-SONGWRITERS AT THE BBC

Just spent a enjoyable hour or so watching this programme on BBC FOUR. It included Tim Buckley (Jeff's dad); Leonard and Julie Felix singing That's No Way To Say Goodbye together in 1968; Kate & Anna McGarrigle (as they were); Loudon Wainwright singing his 'Rufus' song; Joni Mitchel singing A Case O...

Re: Just a teeny mention

Thanks for posting.
Wonderful tongue in cheek comments from Rufus, Viva probably not rapt just because of his wonderful voice and the need for lawyers in the family to sort out better contracts. Excellent. Perhaps an accountant might fill a gap also?

Re: Happy Birthday, Leonard!

Dearest Leonard
I hope you are having the happiest of birthdays with all your family and friends, especially the newest, tiniest Cohen of them all.
My love is with you always.

Secrets Of The Pop Song (BBC2) - Rufus Wainwright

Came across this programme on BBC2 last night, Rufus collaborating with Guy Chambers to write a ballad. A must for Rufus lovers. Good stuff. With a few references to the newest member of the dynasty...

Re: It's official: it (or he) is an American classic ...

Hi Bhasi Mmm, being English does actually mean you are British as well, we are both. Being English however doesn't mean you are Scottish, even though we share a border in a similar way to Canada and the USA. Being Canadian doesn't mean you are American in the way implied by the title of this concert...

Re: Paris Fashion Week 1000 kisses deep

In this clip you can actually hear Leonard, in the earlier ones the show cut off before his poem. Listening to the comments, it seems that Leonard moved people deeply, it must have been wonderful to be there.

How can it be an American classic when Leonard is Canadian?
Did anybody bother to check?

Re: THE HYDRA MEETUP, JUNE 10-12, 2011

I am hoping to travel out from London (England) during the week before and maybe return the following week, perhaps spend a week or ten days there. It would be lovely to have a travelling companion or companions so if your plans are similar send me a message. Also, as I am travelling alone (I haven'...

Re: Will Leonard be Back? Seems unlikely

I feel sure Leonard will put no pressure on himself, if after a rest and other projects, such as his new album recording, he feels the urge to tour again he will do it. If he feels no such urge, he won't. He is now in the happy position to have that choice, depending on health, strength and so on. A...

Re: Songs For Rebecca (The Lost Album 1975)

Hi Phillip It would be great if this could be achieved. Do you have any information about the type of content in the "Songs for Rebecca", its history and why it was never properly published? I have never heard of it before and am really interested. I will be right at the top of the queue if it is ev...
