O Lord, why do you cast me off? Why do you hide your face from me? Wretched and close to death from my youth up, I suffer your terrors; I am desperate. Psalm 88:14,15. Dear Lizzytysh, Lightning may not have been very diplomatic about it but she raises an important question (a question all thinking ...

In TNS and DH, LC is channeling Ramesh Balsekar. I really do not mean to be unkind but LC wrote far better songs before he became a Sage.

Another contest would be good. Count me out though, the standards are too high for me. Critic, which six were yours? Are you the author of my favorite, Brown Hotel?

Hi Laurie, You may be right about that. CD as opposed to seedy. I just finished reading the First and Second place winners. One of the First place winners really impressed me. Anyone who can rhyme Ahithophel with hotel and have it make perfect sense (i.e. giving sound advice) my hat is off to them. ...

Just read the Grand Prize Winners. I haven't had time to read the others yet. I liked both poems. The only question I have is about VivaVinyl? It doesn't seem to fit the theme of the contest. It's like a poem that was already written and the last stanza was doctored so it would fit the theme. Which ...

Great guitar work, Justin. By changing the tempo you made me listen to the song more closely. Give us more.

I'm looking forward to mine too. I'm glad to know the setting for the picture. I had thought it was somber as well. So it now makes sense and as Lizzytysh says, depth.

Peter, Well the postmodern predicament is exactly that truth versus untruth is a static world describtion. To speak is to contridict oneselves when this is realized. Sorry, I'm not following your thought, here. Please elucidate. we must speak of the absolute things, but cannot . Why not? Mark

Anne, I agree with your comment about Leonard Cohen seeing things in shades of gray. But sometimes his comments floor me. Because at first glance they seem so reasonable and so true. But when you take a closer look--what is he actually saying. Take your quote, for instance: "Let's not pretend t...

Natalie,

Perhaps you could do a short write-up (if you feel like it) for Jarkko's Event pages on the poetry reading---who participated, a few examples, etc. I was not able to be in New York but I would be very interested in hearing about this portion of the program.

An album named "Dear Heather"? Oh, dear.

Or is it just one song?

Jeanieb,

Sounds like a great time. Tell me, did you get to listen to all of the new CD? Your description of it alarms me. :) I was really hoping for a guitar driven album.
