Re: Glasgow, November 5-6

I can only agree with everything others have said! The Thursday concert was unbelievable and I truly felt I never wanted it to end - along with everyone else in the audience! Leonard skipped on and off stage for the encores like my 7 year old son - he proves that age is just a number! I was in Manch...

Re: What rights do I have re hotel booking

Hi, I booked a hotel room in Glasgow for 06/11 through booking.com for the princely sum of £5........!!!!! Rather than worry that I'd be charged the full price on the day (£109) I phoned the hotel direct and was told that the price would be honoured because, although the wrong rate had been uploaded...

Re: Glasgow - where to stay?

:D Update - I phoned booking.com who were supposed to get back to me yesterday but didn't..........so today phoned the hotel. Apparently the wrong amount was entered when the rate was put online BUT because I'd booked it and had confirmation the £5 rate WILL be honoured!! I'm ecstatic - money is rea...

Re: Glasgow - where to stay?

when i go on to booking.com it's saying cheapest is £89,what way did you do it?thanks paul Have just checked and the £5 rate is gone - maybe all the rooms have been sold or it was an error on the website. Honest, I'm not a fantasist!!! Maybe call the hotel and double check firstly if they've got yo...

Re: Glasgow - where to stay?

£5 ?!?!?!?! Are you sure that's correct? We often put people in this hotel as it's just across from work, but we do pay considerably more. It sounds unbelievable I know, I keep on checking the booking.com website to see if it changes but the rate is there - £5!!!!!!! Now, if it is a mistake on some...

Re: Glasgow - where to stay?

Another option - relatively cheap I think - is a hotel less than 400 yards from the Clyde Auditorium, called City Inn. It's right on the River. Can't vouch for its quality, but it's a good location. Well, it's a good location for the venue. There's no decent pub nearby, but then there's no decent p...

Re: Glasgow - where to stay?

Thanks for that - a Travelodge sounds fine. Bizarrely, I felt more confident making the arrangements for travelling to and staying overnight in Manchester than I do for Glasgow which is only an hour away!! I chose the Britannia Hotel because it was near the train station for my 7.45am train and walk...

Glasgow - where to stay?

I know this may be a bit early to discuss this but........can anyone recommend a good but relatively cheap place to stay overnight in Glasgow? I'm from just outside Edinburgh and don't know Glasgow at all - would I be better to stay centrally near the train station and travel to the SECC or to stay ...

Re: Edinburgh Help!

I would definitely pull out all the stops and go - Edinburgh Castle is a magnificent venue! I'm gutted that it's my family holiday that week (we live a few miles away) but thankful I made the solo trip to Manchester to see him on the Tuesday. I've seen Rod Stewart and Wet Wet Wet at the Castle and b...

Re: Manchester, UK (June 17-20)

Just wanted to add my tuppence worth about the Tuesday concert...... AMAZING!! I found myself with tears in my eyes at numerous points throughout the evening as memories came flooding back of what all these songs really mean to me and have meant for about 30 years! I had to return to Edinburgh on th...

Re: Manchester Back on Sale

This just reinforces how badly this has all been handled by Ticketmaster. I bought a Gallery seat for the Tuesday just so I didn't miss out altogether (I really wanted the Friday) and after weeks of agonising finally gave in and bought two overpriced Circle seats on ebay (the Stalls ones being way t...

Re: Meetups before/after the Edinburgh concert

Errrr..... You do know that its Princes Street and not Princess street in 'Edinburgh!!!!! I used to work with someone who, despite being Edinburgh born and bred, when addressing envelopes one day spelt it "Princess" and not "Princes". She wasn't best pleased when I pointed it out............

Re: Guardian/Manchester Thursday gig...

I phoned just on 10am and all I could be offered was Row A in the Gallery with a restricted view - how can this be possible when tickets had supposedly just gone on sale?? This was the one morning all week that I couldn't go online but hoped to get a decent ticket on the phone! Luckily I still have ...
