Re: New tribute album in Germany

I finally bought this tribute album and noticed that it is not much discussed here on the forum. I don't know if there are many German speaking users here, but for those who know German I strongly recommend you to get a copy. Most of the artists were completely unknown to me and I had no idea what t...

Re: LEONARD COHEN | HALLS OF FAME

I've just been listening to Leonard's induction speech into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2008). In his speech, he quotes John Landau's famous statement "I have seen the future of Rock and Roll and it is...". Now I know that Landau made this statement and was talking about Bruce Springst...

Re: The incomparable....

A friend of mine gave me the printed version of this article yesterday and it's probably the best article I ever read about the master's work in a newspaper. It's a really wonderfully written article that honors Sharon the way she deserves it. It's also very interesting to learn more about Alexandra...

Is there a specific reason why they did such an extensive, long soundcheck? :)

Re: Is it becoming slightly stale?

I couldn't agree more with what you are saying Matt and there is no way to express it in a better and more respectful way. There is not much to add. Well done. I must admit that for me too, some of the Cohen live magic is gone due to the ever repeating setlist. It is the reason why I only went to tw...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Vienna, Austria - July 27, 2013

Being a huge Springsteen fan myself and having seen him 9 times on the Wrecking Ball 2012-2013 tour, getting a different show every evening including two surprise full album performances, I couldn't agree more with what has been said here about Leonard's setlist. But I think this should best be disc...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: HAMBURG, JULY 14

German reviewers in the "Culture" part of the newspaper never just review the concert, they always try to come up with some kind of original angle, which often has not much to do with the concert they visited... See what you think. I'll translate the second review when I have more time. S...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: HAMBURG, JULY 14

So it seems that Leonard dropped Anthem and Tower of Song. :(

Personally I would have dropped other songs, such as Heart with no Companion and Who by Fire. ;-)

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Mannheim, June 28

Now that I'm back from Paris (the day after Leonard I had to get to Paris to see Mr. Springsteen. :D Now my concert summer is over. :( ) I would like to write a few words about the Mannheim show. I had a seat on the tribunes to the left. When I saw the seat, I was at first shocked because this was c...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Brussels 30th June 2013

Just got home from Brussels, brilliant night, loved it. Excellent concert, as always. Thanks to all the band and 'behind the scenes' crew. Looking forward to Brighton now.......! An observation - Mr C changed one of the words in Anthem (which is one of my all time favourites) from 'The dove is neve...

CONCERT REPORT: Mannheim, Germany, June 28, 2013

Hello folks, Yet another great gig by Leonard and the band. I will write more soon, but just wanted to announce that there has been a new, quite unique addition to the setlist: George Jones "Choices". Leonard dedicated it to him since he has died recently. It was a very nice song and a goo...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: LONDON, JUNE 21, 02 ARENA

Leonard was fantastic as always and I really liked that Lover Lover Lover and especially the amazing recitation of A Thousand Kisses Deep was included in the setlist. Also, Anyhow sounded absolutely brilliant. However, I will never go to the O2 again. The sound (especially at the beginning) was horr...
