Helven, Makera? I thought the Buddha thread was very odd too. Your posts on that thread (Helven, Makera) seemed to be a continuation of one post, not separate at all. I work every summer with students from Russia. They are all 3rd year college students and some are Graduate students. Their English i...

Helven, Thank you for the imput! I have to say you have the most astonishing command of the English language. You "speak" it like a native, including all the idioms. One would never know you were Russian. In fact your English is on a par with Makera's. A notable achievement indeed. Don't y...

Hello Jurica,

Your thoughts on the Shakespeare aspect of the poem struck a chord with me. There seems to be a faint resemblance to Jacques' monologue in As You Like It. I mean particularly Leonard's lines about his age.

Isobel,

Andrew McGeever is quite good-looking. He certainly looks the part of a poet!

Linda,

I appreciate your comment about how we should be everything our dogs think we are. It made me laugh and think!

George,

This poem seems reminiscent of "Slouching toward Bethlehem" I think you have done well in portraying the horror coupled with the almost mystical line: the frozen stars above rocked them all to sleep.

Makera,

I liked the prayer very much and would also love to know what the melody is.

George,

I never cared for movies like that either. Are we kindred spirits?

Byron,

I an not criticizing you..we just have different tastes in movies and humor.

This is a strange poem but the more I looked at it I began to see the humor in it.

Songster, why do you dislike Balseker? Eastern Mysticism has much to offer the West. (I am assuming you are a Westerner). Perhaps there is no good and evil as we have been taught to believe. All religions teach the same message...but each with a different way to God. You in your way and I in mine.
