Re: Leonard fans should watch Mr. Mercedes

Panjandrum I do think you should warn people that this is about a psychopath and could be disturbing to some...I haven't seen it yet so please correct me if I'm wrong. (I googled it). Leslie Done! I have edited the first post. Sorry you won't be able to enjoy it. Still don't want to spoil it for ot...

Is there a particular episode?
thanks!
I'm only part way through episode 2 and there have already been two items of note - I kind of wouldn't want to say more anyway because it's kind of fun to discover little surprises on your own.

Leonard fans should watch Mr. Mercedes (also, a bit about Stephen King)

Leonard fans should watch Mr. Mercedes. Don't want to spoil things, so I'll leave it at that! P.S. It is based on novels by Stephen King. You have been warned! P.P.S. Leonard and Stephen have some similarities in writing: they hit hard, don't hold punches, are deeply insightful as it comes to human ...

Well, probably too late for your needs, but listen to Love Itself. I think there are pieces of that which might work.

Re: Is Adam Cohen singing the unreleased songs of his father?

Personally, I would love to hear more of Leonard's poetry set to song; if Adam did it that would be great (and I think we would have heard if he latest albums were Leonard-penned on the lyrics side). If other people do it, that's great too. ( https://youtu.be/8kPtecVU5Hs?list=PL1WGsNfkvvYTwwnSeGJIxO...

Re: "Elaboration of a tube" line in "Going Home"?

I've always taken it literally - the digestive tract from mouth to ass. The tube. Wait, didn't I say that already somewhere way back in this thread? ( I don't really think the test-tube theory holds up all that well. It's quite specifically "of a tube" not "from a tube." Plus, he seems to have jetti...

Re: "Hallelujah": 10 year old special needs student

Interesting. I ran across this on a News site and then came here to post a new thread (I might still do so) entitled "Reclaiming Hallelujah". Here is what I've posted in three places online at this point: "As wonderful and heartfelt a story as this is, it deserves mention somewhere that the song she...

Re: Darker Album in the charts

Checked just for kicks and it is currently #6 on US iTunes charts, and #2 on Amazon behind Lady Gaga who apparently has a new album? (You know, it's too bad. That makes twice now he ended-up with a CD release on the same day as another artist who was going to sell huge - Lady Gaga this time and Lana...

Re: New Album announced: 'You Want It Darker'

Loving the album. On my third consecutive play-through now.

Is it my imagination or do I hear The Denvermen very strongly in "Leaving the Table"? Leonard's certainly of the age where he would have heard them "back in the day" (they pre-date Leonard's first album by something like 5 or 6 years...)

Re: 'I am ready to die' - New LC interview in The Gurdian today

It's so sad to hear that his health is failing (or that he feels his health is failing...). I was lucky enough to see him 4 times during his "final touring years" (Toronto, Detroit, Detroit, Chicago) and he seemed incredibly vibrant, nimble, exuberant and absolutely full of life. Having seen too man...

Re: Bob Dylan Awarded Nobel Prize for Literature 2016

While I (like many here I expect) feel quite strongly that Leonard's lyrics are much richer, much more poetic, much "deeper" (for lack of a more concise term) and fit much more classically into the realm of literature (with added considerations being his Novels and considerable body of Poetry), I wo...

Re: "6 songs that make people cry and the reasons why"

Interesting. And yeah, it's surely presumptuous to claim to know why certain songs move certain people to tears. (Then again, to play devil's advocate; if you've studied psychology, literature, philosophy and the like, you might actually have a reasonable basis on which to form some pretty good educ...

Re: Lana Del Rey

I'm really enjoying Lana's newest (Honeymoon). It's a real shame that she apparently can't actually sing (90% of the live performances I've heard are beyond bad; just nails-on-the-chalkboard-ear-coveringly-awful). It shows how much I enjoy her creativity and lyrics that I'll listen to her anyway bec...
