You who wish to conquer pain,
you must learn what makes me kind;
the crumbs of love that you offer me,
they're the crumbs I've left behind.
These lines make me shiver. But they are so beautiful.

Just poetry
Everybody is making love Or else expecting rain Some speak of the future My love she speaks softly The guilty undertaker sighs, The lonesome organ grinder cries, The silver saxophones say I should refuse you. The cracked bells and washed-out horns Blow into my face with scorn, But it's not that way,...

What do you answer when somebody calls Leonard kitschy?
Sorry that I have to ask this question. :oops: But what do you answer when somebody calls Leonard kitschy or mawkish? (I don't know of I can use the word kitschy in English, but my dictionary says so.) I'm from Germany, and "Kitsch" is a very bad word for me, for people who have good taste...

Nobody should blame the Beatles for being born too late. I love them for their wonderful music, but what I appreciate more is their humanity and their sense of humour. The day John Lennon was shot was a very sad day. The Beatles were more than just musicians. They always were, are and will be good f...

The american author Kurt Vonnegut often says that it's the mission of an artist to make people appreciate their lives. And when anybody asks which artist succeeded, he replies: The Beatles!!!!

What's more important? The lyrics or the tune/song?
Both are important. What makes Cohen so attractive is more than the combination of lyrics and tune. But the connection between both is Cohen's powerful voice with which you can fall in love. It is so dark and deep, so demanding and rousing: it gives birth to his lyrics, makes them human. Cohen is a ...

When did you first hear of L.C. ?
I first heard of Leonard Cohen some years ago. (I am now 27 years old.) I was watching a French short movie called "La page blanche" (The white page). It was about young persons who couldn't cope with the world of the adults. One girl was sent to psychiatry by her father and ran away. She ...

Favourite L.C Line...
I chose a very personal line: "Why, I'm fire," he replied, "And I love your solitude, I love your pride." from Joan of Arc :twisted: I think it's fascinating when a man loves or admires characteristics of a woman which don't seem to be attractive at first sight. But Cohen chose &...
