Re: "Thanks for the dance" - the new album

From the very first line of that review it was clear that this Joseph Kugelmass - whoever he is, simply thought he was was being clever and went to a lot of trouble to deliberately find fault with every single aspect of 'Thanks for the Dance'. He's at odds with dozens of known and respected reviewer...

Re: "Thanks for the dance" - the new album

Oh, it's so beautiful, so beautiful. The Hills is magnificent, It's Torn is sublime and Puppets is so stark and confronting. That's all I've heard so far. Thank you Adam, you've made this old lady very, very happy today. I know there were doubters but you proved them wrong. And it's so lovely hearin...

Re: "Thanks for the dance" - the new album

What about 'Songs for Rebecca'? Isn't it still sitting in a studio vault somewhere? Never mind if not, 'Thanks for the Dance' will be a joyful last album from the man we all loved!

It's so beautiful and it's really Leonard. I couldn't stop crying as I listened for the first time.

Re: "A new album of original Leonard Cohen songs is in the works"

For non-French speakers:

'Cohen' is to be released in November, on the Columbia label, and will have 12 songs. Tribute concerts are being planned to co-incide with it in New York, Montreal and Paris.

Dr HGuy has just promoted the 1979 'Silent Night', by Leonard and Jennifer, on Cohencentric. Maybe he's having second thoughts. Oh, I do hope so!

Re: Cohencentric Last Post

Only Allan knows the real reasons for Cohencentric's demise -and I respect that completely, but it was sad today (I'm in New Zealand, so ahead of many of you), to have this significant date pass without a typically funny, yet reverant DrHGuy tribute. Dear Leonard, we miss you so much - and we'll mis...

Re: Leonard Has Passed Away

I knew that we would probably never see him again when I watched the 'You Want it Darker' release celebration interview, from the Canadian Consulate in LA. Leonard had an ethereal sort of 'childlike' look, which I've often observed in family and friends with late-stage cancer. Like a little boy who ...

So stunned. So sad, and so grateful to him for enriching my life beyond belief. Farewell, our friend.

Treaty - definitely. It could apply to almost any relationship. I just love it. I hope that my neighbours like LC because he's been blasting out across our deck in Auckland, constantly, this early summer afternoon!

Apparently 'So Long Marianne' features in the new Disney film, Pete's Dragon, which - co-incidentally - was also filmed here in New Zealand!

Re: New Album announced: 'You Want It Darker'

Welcome news and a Happy Birthday to Leonard. Hopefully there'll be another tour. I realise this is your first post but did you read the piece properly? There can't be another tour, LC at 82 with ailments that 82 year olds (and younger) get could not in any way sustain good health long enough for a...

Re: New Album announced: 'You Want It Darker'

Goldin, we just saw the Nick Cave doco too. So raw and visceral - and oddly, but effectively, oblique in terms of the loss and its circumstances.
It's a gift to have Skeleton Tree, plus a new LC, coming all at once and so glad that the latter should, (well, at least I hope) be much more cheerful!

Best LC ringtone!

I've come to realise that our beloved LC tends to have quite short intros to his songs. I had the original 1994 'Dance me to the end of love,' on my last phone but would like something new. Any suggestions?
