Re: Venice, August 3 - on sale from May 6

I saw Elton John in concert in Piazza San Marco last summer in July. Not a fan (like his early stuff) but hey we were there on holiday & a concert in the "Drawing Room of Europe" was not to be missed. A concert of great moments - the main star being the square (when candle in the wind ...

Re: 4 x 2008 Concerts on Disc

Hi All,
I want to thank Judy, profusely for sending me the DVD containing an amalgam of the Dublin concerts. Some great moments on it and a beautiful keepsake of the show.

If anyone wants a copy let me know - I'm in Ireland.

Re: 4 x 2008 Concerts on Disc

I know delayed gratification is what makes us adults & furthermore non-attachment is a more evolved human characteristic but has anybody received this DVD or heard from Copycay since end of June? I've PM'ed him but got no reply.

Re: ticketmaster rip-off

Yea, there was something similar in Ireland about looking into excessive credit card charges but nothing came of it, as usual! I don't understand why the event organisers don't just sell the tickets through their own outlet(s) as they operate these outlets anyway? What is it that brings them to the ...

Re: ticketmaster rip-off

I've always thought Ticketmaster a rip-off with their excessive credit card charges. Having read this thread I'm even more incensed by their antics. They seem to represent the epitome of the Gordon Gecko "Greed is good" mentality, preying on the weak (us the fans whose desire to see the ar...

Re: Manchester 18/06/2008 *VINE* (CD Recording)

I'm in Ireland & on Vine 5 - I'm just about to get the CD from Mani (halfway down Vine 1) who is also in Ireland. As the Vines seem to be moving slowly, it seems easier to keep it moving within a country, so is there anybody else in ireland on a Vine that hasn't received it yet I could send to? ...

Re: LC Back Catalog - Royalties Issues

I think (as Steve said) that he is getting his percentage of performing rights for CD sales and radio playing, but not "owning" the song as before. He sold *copyrights* (under bad circumstances) for the back catalogue, that means no more "royalties" and no control over the songs...

Re: LC Back Catalog - Royalties Issues

Tom, I get your irony about Sony not really being interested in LC because he was not considered a money spinner like Dylan or Elvis. This is one of the reasons for my post - I feel the music industry is an insatiable monster which preys on the public & artists alike. An industry like this, beca...

Re: LC Back Catalog - Royalties Issues

Tim, I wouldn't suggest anything illegal - there is a legal fee paying Russian download site from which you can get full CDs (uncomprtessed) for about $5. This site pays artist royalties to ROMS (a Russian copyright agency) but the RIAA refuse to collect these royalties because they don't recognise ...

LC Back Catalog - Royalties Issues

I just read an interesting post from Bela which offers an explanation for the Galstonbury video ban by LC & has important information that all fans should be aware of. Essentially, LC no longer gets royalties from his back catalog as these have been sold to Sony. Hence a very plausible reason fo...

Re: Mid Year Concert Grosses

Bela, That's interesting information & a savvy interpretation of the Glastonbury video ban! The music business world seems indeed to be inhabited by voracious sharks or are they pirahanas? As he no longer gets any royalties for his back catalogue I believe this information should be spread wide ...

Re: boogie street - lyrics meaning

My interpretation is like others here - Boogie Street is LC's term for normal life or the way of the ordinary man. Having experienced the ectasy of contact with the divine LC knows that his way is in normal life & not in a buddist monastry. As usual he tells this with no regret, remorse or yearn...

Hi Mani, Sorry I didn't see this post until now - I've been away in Venice for the last 12 days & just catching up on postings now. I saw Elton John in concert in Piazza San Marco while there and I couldn't help but think what a wonderful venue this would be for Leonard Thank you for the offer o...

Re: Leonard Cohen 2008 concerts

Hi Martin, I tried your other thread - sorry to hear that you didn't get a thank you from all the people that received a copy from you. It's surprising, as the fans seem to be a well mannered bunch of people, maybe of an older generation where manners are considered important. I would love to get a ...
