Would someone please explain the difference to me between bootlegs and other types of recordings (audience, sound-checks, tapes from the mix etc). I thought it was just a matter of semantics. Are the bootlegs approved by LC? Is that the difference?

From the Koln concert: "This is a song that arose from a photograph that I saw when I was a child of some people in striped pajamas prison uniforms with violins playing beside a smoke stack and the smoke was made out of gypsys and children and this song arose out of that photograph, DANCE ME TO...

Hi Kush, Just an update and a thank-you for the info again. I loved the Tangled Up in Blue and Gospel album. As for Bob Dylan, himself, I like the older Dylan better. In fact, "Not Dark Yet" is now my favorite song. I went out and bought Love and Theft and Time Out of Mind...and am playing...

I've never thought of Leonard Cohen's music as being a depressant. However, at the risk of being struck by lightning, I've don't view his music the way some on this forum seem to do. In particular, quotes, like this one: Leonard took his verse into music and stilled the world with his bleak melancho...

O.K. I just looked up hubba hubba in the Urban Dictionary. I did not mean "crack cocaine." I was using the old definition of "approval, pleasure." I picked up a couple of copies of the old Life magazine once. They were issues printed during World War II. In the letters to the edi...

I liked "That Don't make it Junk" on TNS. Otherwise thought the album was bland and could LC sing any slower...I don't think so.

Loved VP.

(I hope his next album is filled with "That Don't make it Junk" songs. Real country and western but please pick up the tempo.)

Kush,

Thanks, I appreciate the info. I used the links and ordered from the Big A. I was raised on Bill Monroe and so am especially intrigued by the Tangled Up in Bluegrass. The CD's should get here before my long drive. I hope I don't OD on Dylan.

Dear Lizzy,

You/it may be right, but it's not what I'm hearing.

That because you're listening to NPR.

Kush, You said there were two terrific covers albums of Dylan songs by prominent gospel and blues singers of the south. Since I love gospel and blues (and bluegrass) could you give me the names of these albums. I have gotten the Dylan Essentials but haven't cracked the cellophane yet. I'm going on a...

Actually, the military is not having a tough time getting recruits. Recruitment is up for all branches and retention is not a problem either.

I have to confess I don't know much about Dylan's music. Blowin' in the wind and Desolation Row are about the only songs I have ever heard. Should I start with the Bootleg Series are just go the regular route? Dylan was in D.C. a couple of weeks ago. He played at a small venue and spent the whole ti...

This is an outstanding poem, SMC. The last stanza in particular is very fine. I hope you post more.
