Re: To be a child again...

Diane wrote There ain't no cure for age, and yet friends are encouraging me to join them for cold water immersion, which involves suddenly entering a lake and remaining there for three minutes. I have been doing some research, and it is scientifically proven to cause mitochondrial biogenesis, which...

Re: To be a child again...

i have been asked to publish the following photograph :-) mum wedding!.jpg Solong wrote Thank you so much, Geoffrey. I wasn't able to post it myself. This week, it is 23 years since Mum died, so spare a thought for Bena. What a beautiful photo Michael. She looks like a film star. Last week was 10 y...

Re: To be a child again...

Solong wrote you be right, 4 is the one. But the better half is the second half. Please understand that far -away folk like Geoffrey, who never even studied Latin at school, nor Law at Uni (oh, bugger, just remembered I never went there )would have benefitted greatly from your explanation of "...

Re: To be a child again...

The only problem in recalling things from childhood is it sort of gives your age away ;-) . Damn! We have to be philosophical at this stage, and realise that age is just for sour French cheeses. It's interesting to reflect that we were still in junior school when that album you didn't reference cam...

Re: To be a child again...

that poem was quite nice, karren. michael's suggestion for a different ending should be treated with suspicion. you realise that should you delete your verse and replace it with his, he will immediately claim a percentage of the royalties. Thank you G. I hope you are well... Something I learned her...

Diane wrote: Tue May 04, 2021 9:53 am Hey Karren, that's my exact childhood, too. Nice work!

I sense an Ian Dury beat (and I like the Pink Floyd reference).
Hi Diane
I'm glad you enjoyed it. The only problem in recalling things from childhood is it sort of gives your age away ;-) .

(No deliberate Pink Floyd reference intended)

Re: To be a child again...

Hi Karren, nice to see you and well done. Strangely, it was in your final stanza that your timing went missing. You can recast that easily Instead of "Adults tell you 'Just you wait, when you grow up life will be great'. They sell you dreams; say you can fly... Buyers beware, it's all a lie&qu...

To be a child again...

To be a child again... What happened to those lazy days of playing games and daisy chains. Long hot summers, Christmas snow, I often wonder where'd they go. Slides and swings, and climbing trees, grubby hands and dirty knees. Shiny wellies, sparkly bangles, Sherbet lemons, Bon Bons, Spangles. Just t...

Re: Bob Dylan New Album 'Rough and Rowdy Ways'

Well Hartmut, It looks like it's a double album but of only 10 songs, though taking into account the length of some of the tracks I'm not surprised it will be on two discs.

Roll on 19th June...

solong wrote THEM THE GUYS? THEM THE PARODIES? THEM THE HIM? THEM THE PARK? All of them apart from the theme park, I know where that is. And here are Le(onar)d Zeppelin singing Mr Tangerine Man https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0Auvlsv860 I prefer Tangerine singing Leonard Cohen https://youtu.be/oH2...

Re: Bob Dylan 'I Contain Multitudes'

You're welcome Kush. Dylan does bring the story to life with some of his descriptive lyrics. You think those that died just drowned, but he tells how many sustained injuries as the ship tilted and some at the hand of other passengers. Quite a disturbing song really, but that's Dylan... I have to adm...

Re: never-ending gallery

Ponder words, ye all, take joy from them. They be not like paintings which are gone in minutes (see for example, the Life Story of the Parisian burglar Vjeran Tomic, a nice chap whom I once met at an accidental Christening). Please note the proper spelling of Christening as it took place in London, ...

Re: Bob Dylan 'I Contain Multitudes'

What more can I tell ya? I sleep with life and death in the same bed Instead of the drip drip...I would have preferred an album. The Tempest was very good. I would like to see a new album too. I'm sure there's one in the making. I thought 'Tempest' was a very good album with some great songs includ...
