Re: Leonard & India - request from Sylvie Simmons

When I listen to some songs or interviews of Leonard, it seems to me that he doesn't really believe in free will. It goes rather like this: We make our plans as if there was a free will, and this is something we must inevitably do, but we can't command the consequences and if we look back we underst...

Re: The tour ended.

"Be the truth unsaid and the blessing gone, If I forget my Babylon". - It is so very significant that Leonard gave his last concert in our contemporary Babylon. And we, the fans, are all back in Babylon right now (after the 3 years of heavenly Jerusalem). Yes, it's crowded and cold here, b...

Re: What Leonard Cohen Can Teach Us About Love

Oh, my! Don't be naive. I think a great part of Leonard's art is about masochism, even his religious imagery. And so what? I guess he would be the first to admit it himself. All this obsession with humiliation and surrendering, the remotest possibilities of sex and the religious exagerations explore...

Re: Announcement of the Nov 27 concert in Phnom Penh

Thank You, Harriet/Nicole for your kind words. Even if it all went wrong - I hope people are forgiving by their nature and just "let it all go by" holding their love of Leonard and his music intact in their hearts no matter who is right and who isn't. Even if there ARE some lies in some vo...

Re: Lyrics of „Born in Chains“, as far as I can make them out

This last version is from the poem called "The Embrace" ("Stranger Music 1993)): When you stumble suddenly into his full embrace, he hides away so not to see his creature face to face. You yourself are hidden too, with all your sins of state; there is no king to pardon you; his mercy ...

Re: CONCERT REPORTS: Gent, Belgium, August 20, 21 and 22, 2010

I read in the forum more and more complaints about the fact that repeating the same thing over and over again may become boring? But what do You expect? Leonard changing the concert radically every evening? There seems to be a group of people addicted to transcendental moments (what is, of course, v...

My humble proposition would be "sense-delusion". Makes sense in the context of zen philosphy.

Bless You, Jeanne, for these words - this is exactly how it is - smile on my face and pain in my heart, life and soul touched and changed, and this pain to "lift the spirit up". Thank You.

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Helsinki, August 10, 2010

Back from yesterday's concert. I didn't expect it to include so many changes as compared to the Live in London DVD and last years concert in Dublin. Awsome! Although in the middle of the concert Leonard said his usual "I don't know when we will pass this way again", in the end he said:&quo...

Re: What is going on ?

"Ill health" is not a thing you can always define do precisely. I'm afraid that something might have occured somewhere in december when adding new concerts to the schedule stopped. It may just be the situation that things are not clear, as it often is with health problems. I hope so much t...

Re: Cohen Biographer Sylvie Simmons at the Chelsea

Leonard has said somewhere that he never discusses his mistresses or his taylors. I really hope that the "mistresses" show the same respect and will not be tempted into this easiest and morally cheapest way of money-making.
