Re: First Aid Kit with friends - Leonard Cohen tribute on Swedish television

Just came across this on Youtube whilst watching some thing else on YouTube. Really enjoyed the concert and standard of performance and arrangements. First Aid Kit are a great act. Must catch one of their own shows some time. For my money I would prefer this than a bunch of supposed pop stars paying...

Re: Leonard Has Passed Away

I dislike all this speculation about the cause of Leonards death but the statement from Robert Kory has not helped and will only cause more debate. Did the fall result in an injury that brought on the death? A sudden unexpected death normally requires a post mortem to establish the cause of death es...

Re: Leonard Cohen's health

I find this all this probing and questioning somewhat unsavoury and disrespectful. This is a private matter and people are still grieving (and also celebrating Leonards life). Leonards wishes and that of his family should be fully respected. It is in my opinion unnecessary and unless his close famil...

Re: Leonard Has Passed Away

I was shocked and very saddened at Bowie's death , but somehow Leonard's passing seems more personal - almost like the death of a family member. Maybe that's why i also feel a need to know more about why and how he died. I hope that doesn't sound like too much of a invasion of privacy. Please just ...

Re: Leonard Has Passed Away

Just heard this sad news. Broken hearted and in tears.

A friend and gentle soul has left. So happy to have met him and had his grace in my life

His words to Marianne have been prophetic.

I am inconsolable at the moment. RIP beautiful friend,

Re: The Darker Album and the Songs

My third comment on the album this week...what an effect from words and music, unexplainable but divine and continues to touch and bring a physical warmth to my very core of being, soul and thoughts.

Re: The Darker Album and the Songs

Since yesterday on first hearing the full album I am just captivated by how profound an effect it has had on me. The previous two albums I did not entirely warm to (and only listened to a few times) but this one has me totally enraptured. Mark Edwards in his review in the Sunday Times of 23rd Octobe...

Re: The Darker Album and the Songs

Think that this could well be the Debussy sound and feel that Leonard wished for when he recorded 'Death of a Ladies Man' (but Phil Spector, a fanatic of Wagner, gave it a different feel!). It has instantly hit the depths of my soul and being, something the last two albums did not (and to which I ha...

Re: New Album announced: 'You Want It Darker'

That is good news...I do want it darker but light is ok as well. It probably will be a light to the world. Pleased to hear that those who have heard it described it as a masterpiece' and 'classic Cohen.' I hope that this is not the type of hype that record marketing people accompany with every new r...

Re: "So long, Marianne. Leonard Cohen's final letter to his muse"

Leonard as a song writer, poet, lived part of his life in the public eye and invited this as part of endeavours to progress as an artist (and also to survive economically/make money). The extent to which this involved ego is of course open to debate. He was not however, the starving artist living in...

Re: "So long, Marianne. Leonard Cohen's final letter to his muse"

That was very touching and brought tears to my eyes. Leonard's way with words and expression is wonderful. He captured their enduring 'endless love' and describing reaching out his hand and saying he will not be far behind Marianne...such comfort and amazing connection between two humans. The image ...

Re: CONCERT REPORTS: Dublin Sept 11, 12, 14 & 15, 2012

Another great show in Dublin tonight - the best of the four IMHO (or maybe it was just the show where I was least bothered by drunks, talkers and screaming banshees ....) Going Home snuck back in to the setlist and we enjoyed the tour debut of Anyhow, complete with new lyrics (but not the new words...

Re: CONCERT REPORTS: Dublin Sept 11, 12, 14 & 15, 2012

I'm finding it tough to comprehend that Friday was somehow better than Wednesday as someone mentioned above??? Is this really true? If so, surely a candidate for his best Irish show ever? From footage of the current tour I am not convinced that any of the shows could be described as his best Irish ...

Re: Highway Robbery

The following might be of interest in terms of ticket prices and whether they are justified by costs of touring etc., and the obscene amounts of money being made by musical acts with many earning sums of 10, 20, 30 40 and even 100+ million dollars per tour (U2) LC has been one of the top earning act...
