Re: influences on leonard?

Cohen's Lucky Night is a translation of San Juan de la Cruz' poem, Dark Night (of the soul). (San Juan is also known as Saint John of the Cross ) Interestingly... San Juan had Jewish grandparents who were forced to convert to Catholicism at pain of death during the Spanish Inquisition and I suggest ...

Re: You know who I am (Songs From A Room)

Hi David, I'll need to mull that around in my head for awhile. I am not familiar with the Kabala; I have merely heard others mention its wisdom. I would suggest, though, that what I see in Leonard's song above is similar to what you see. That is, god changing "position", as Leonard terms it (Various...

"They whisper still, the ancient stones
the tumbled mountains weep..."

Now that's Poetry!

Re: The Master Song

Yes, we are locking down, popping corks, distancing as much as we can...and dawdling through old Leonard Cohen posts, thoughts and music...it's better than bullets and bombs, that's for sure.
Keep well if you can.
If not, then good luck! Xxx

Re: The Master Song

Yes, we are "imperfect beings" Cate... ...but your response is perfect. (forgiveness, acceptance, mercy, non judgement on a certain level ...there is another "position" for a "Me Too" movement. ;-) With your attitude, Cate, I would guess you are now preparing for the Front Line in the Battle of Coro...

Re: Leonard and Corona

I'm still here wherever that is... ;-) I'm mulling around these "Darker" lines of Leonard; ...and please don't make me go there though there be a god or not... (so hope-less- melancholy, so mortal) ...they whisper still, the ancient stones the blunted mountains weep... (so hope-full-immortal/eternal...

...more "notes from the underground" by Fyodor Mat IAMvsky-cohen ( an cohenesque /Satrian pre-cogito-existential adventure into the isness paradox of being...) ie, i-am ..some more contemplative reflections on this song by Leonard Cohen...from the underworld/underground... "You know Who I AM" you've...

Re: The bee’s last journey to the rose

Hi Jack, thanks for the fascinating conversation/challenge :D 8) ...your fat and skinny Buddha business is an interesting and entertaining tangent...but in my Po post I thought I would simply let you get on with your story :) Interestingly, I have several Buddha's in my home, fat, skinny, thoughtful...

Re: The bee’s last journey to the rose

Hi Jack! Wow, long time... Yeh, San Juan is a champ. As is that little bee...in each of us.. ;) Poetically, since Mike's post above, I have been toying with the idea of the buddha in the bee, or more accurately, the bee in the buddha... ...the buzz the hum humming and om-ing in and out of the eterna...

Re: The bee’s last journey to the rose

hi Mike, yes, there is something beeishly otherworldly about both poems, while still being lost in the "now". I read your book....loved the way the dog avoided "existential angst"....so true  ...and this beautiful line, from your poem, Denial: "I won't look up so passers by can see all those th...

Re: The Flame-discussion thread

Hi Joe and All, Things have quietened down a bit on this thread, so I will add my opinion to the mix. I want to be blunt. I want to point out that this book The Flame is as much about Cruz as it is about Cohen. It oozes "Dark Night" and "Oh Living Flame of Love" by Cruz ...and in my opinion Leonard ...

...you don't know what your labelling about, Geoffrey  He's not so much "thinking" as absent-mindlessly reflecting and moving toward contemplating a whole range of pasts.. he is connected to the dis-connection sauntering through unholy lands and he hasn't landed yet "I set out one Night but...
