Remember those Concert Presale Agonies?

Morning all. I turned on to my usual breakfast radio show this morning here in the UK, and almost the first thing I heard was the presenter telling 12 million listeners that U2 are holding a fan site members' pre-sale for tickets to their upcoming Joshua Tree tour, with the sale opening in about 30 ...

Leonard Has Passed Away

I will miss knowing the man is among us, but I'm glad his life was a full one, both bitter and sweet as all lives must be. The music, the words, the sly smile, the deadpan delivery. The terrific courtesy (and the "search me" replies to interviewers' questions). The gigs - all seven of them...

Possible to get a private concert?

Hi demisedd - I'm not remotely "official" but I'm afraid I know what the message will be when someone from the leadership team responds to this - "impossible." A lot of us will sympathise with you. Leonard has reached people of all ages and at all stages of life, and inevitably t...

Make a Mastermind Question on Leonard - Comp for Fun Only

Let's see if we can predict any of the millions of possible questions the contender taking Leonard as their specialist subject might face during this Friday's programme on BBC2: One question per member, and I'll kick off with: Which album was produced by Phil Spector, during the making of which he i...

"No Ideas" (the book) by Leif Bodnarchuk

I bought this yesterday as a Kindle book from Amazon for only a couple of quid.

Half way through and very much enjoying. An easy read, but with some penetrating insights mixed in among the daily ups and down of touring with a band.

Leonard 80 years: Fund Raising for our Hydra Bench

Terrific plan, terrific looking bench. And a unique oportunity for us all to say our thanks to Mr C for all the pleasure he's given us, and will continue to give.

PRESALE TO THE UK SHOWS

Well, I hope the team are pleased - they should be - with the outcome of this pre-sale, which seems to have gone very smoothly and put a lot of good tickets the way of a lot of good admirers of Mr C. See you in Manchester, then! Despite the size of the venue, my gang thought it was second only to th...

Interview with Roscoe Beck

Good stuff, and I found the points about the Dino vs Violin thing especially interesting.

I'm firmly in the "Bring Back the Violin" camp myself, and very much hoping that when the other UK dates are given, I'll have an opportunity to go and hear that fiddle sound for real.....

LONDON (June 21, 2013) NOW ON SALE

Hi Eve - sorry to hear about that experience. I guess the lesson is always to bear in mind that one person's meat is another's poison.... We had very good seats that day, almost side-on to the stage and Mr C absolutely nailed "Bird." And the sound quality was very good too. Just one of tho...

LONDON (June 21, 2013) NOW ON SALE

Hi Vicomte, John - I likewise will wait for more UK dates and see what's out there. Vicomte - do you rate the Albert Hall? I went last time (having "met" LC's music just after his gigs there in the nineties (thank you, "Later" with Jools Holland) and in all honesty was rather dis...

New Leonard Cohen biography by Sylvie Simmons (Fall 2012)

Hi Doron (or should I call you DC :) ). That's a very interesting and stimulating review. Many thanks. I have the book beside me as I write this and I'm about a third of the way through, which is not enough, obviously, to pronounce on the whole but sufficient, I hope, to have a reasonable handle on ...

Article on Cohen song (not Hallelujah) in Melbourne Review

Interesting piece - thanks for posting. I've always been a little bit fascinated by that album and the circumstances surrounding it's production. And I don't think it's a as bad as some people make out - patchy, yes, but a couple of the songs work well enough, and I absolutely love "True Love L...

"I'm Your Man" in the Times Sunday Book Review

Hi lightning - there are so many books and articles on the man, but I do think this one looks great and I'm going to buy. Thanks for posting the link. But - can you believe yet another writer/reviewer has concluded their piece with those closing lines from Anthem? I mean, I love them too - I absolut...
