Re: never-ending gallery

I like "Blackadder". Did you ever see Rowan Atkinson in "Maigret"? It was a serious role, he played a French detective -- good series. Hi Folks, Just letting you know someone else is reading this, I didn't like Blackadder. Each to their own, I guess. I haven't seen Maigret, unless you consider the ...

Re: Leonard, Marianne, and Me: Magical Summers on Hydra (new book)

I saw a TV show a while ago where someone was complaining about the perfection of the teeth of many public figures.

His comment was along the lines of "my mouth is like a vandalized graveyard!"
I can empathize with that.

My dental appointment is 10:55 am tomorrow (17th June).

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

I'm baaaack! Bingo--yes I was referring to perscription/prescription! It's funny, the odd things one may notice on a recording that others may not. Another may be Leonard's singing "flake" in FBR, where the ending K is so pronounced. 4 But yet the K in awake is often suppressed. { I see Jane's awake...

Re: never-ending gallery

lovely to be home, my favourite place to be especially when nobody else is here :) in any case, such drawings are not at all hard for anyone to do, many of them not worth showing. it's more or less just doodling. Geoffrey, I agree and disagree. Home is a wonderful place, particularly when there are...

Re: never-ending gallery

Dear Solong,
Do you try to send jury members to sleep with your opening address as well as your closing address?
I surely hope this is your closing address.

Kind regards,
Alan

Re: Music You're Listening To

I became aware of the Swingle Singers many years ago, singing "scat" to a variety of types of music, and quite liked them. Then they reformed as Swingle 2 and released "Rags and all That Jazz" in 1975 (with real lyrics!) , which I listen to often, but this (Weeping Willow) is by far my favourite tra...

Re: occasionally I take an hour away from this Forum

BTW, did you buy your pony on the first Monday in September? I don't know when I bought her but she won so well the race before last, (we do not discuss the last race, and in particular we don't discuss the jockeyship). This Sunday it's lunch at the stables, and I can see Professor Galant without h...

Re: occasionally I take an hour away from this Forum

Do you mean the same Stevie who starred in an episode of Carpool Karaoke, with the hopeless James Corden? The conceit was that Wonder wanted to drive and insisted he had a license. How are you, Alan? That's the one! How am I? Delightfully, incredibly, superbly gruntled, and as usual, i'm peccable. ...

Thank you very much for posting this link. I really enjoyed listening to the chat between 2 friends.
At 2 hours and 20 minutes it may appear daunting, but believe me it is worth listening to.
Many Leonard anecdotes among other information.

Treat yourself,

Re: Interview: Perla Batalla about Leonard Cohen

Hi merton, Many thanks for posting this link. I really enjoyed watching the interview and listening to Perla's memories and thoughtful opinions. IMHO she and Julie were the best ever backing singers that Leonard had. Sadly I never saw them live, only on recordings. Their version of Anthem on Leonard...

Well done, I enjoyed it.
Ditto.

I really think this pandemic and its anti-social isolation have improved your literary skills.
Keep trying, lad, I'm sure you'll create a good pome one day.
