Re: Waiting For The News To Come

Cohen with a capital "C"
And that rhymes with "P" and that stands for pool!

More likely to be Patience right here in River City.

I, for one, have been well trained.

Re: Music You're Listening To

Can I Get There By Candlelight - David McWilliams Hi Bev, While scrutinising your list intensely (with an intense scroot), I came upon this song. Where did you come across David McWilliams? In Oz or elsewhere? I am a fan of his music and have long felt there were some similarities with Leonard. He ...

Re: Music You're Listening To

Hi Bev, I didn't know you were a Dusty fan. I am also in that category and often listen to her when I'm not listening to Leonard. many years ago I bought a compilation CD and discovered "Broken Blossoms" - are you familiar with it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZfnsBSq6cQ BTW another good version...

Re: never-ending gallery

Some of us are still here, Geoffrey, enjoying all your posts and those of your forum friends. "Last night I dreamt I went to Manderlay again. It seemed to me that I stood by the iron gate leading to the drive ..." Rebecca is one of my favourite books and films too (Hitchcock version, of course). I h...

Re: Official video released on Youtube of "The Hills"

I agree with you both, Lisa and Bev. Try watching with the sound off and see how it grabs you. The only music videos of Leonard's songs that I watch are those featuring Leonard, and even then, I have only watched them a few times. Concert videos, however, are a whole different thing. Sitting down wi...

Re: R.I. P. Julie Felix

Felix first moved to England in 1964. Shortly after arriving, Felix became the resident musician for the Australian talk show host David Frost’s BBC show.
Until just now, I never knew that David Frost was Australian.

Game of Thrones

I don't know if this qualifies for the Soundtracks listing, but I discovered Leonard in one of the Game of Thrones "features" on Disc 3 of Series 8. During "Game of Thrones The Last Watch", part of You want It Darker is used as soundtrack just after 47 minutes. So, in the extra features, not in the ...

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

I am heading back to the original intention of this thread, i.e. what Leonard's albums mean to me as a contributor to the thread, rather than what Leonard intended a meaning (or multiple meanings) to be. In so doing, I am not criticising any sidetracks that have arisen. I have gone down quite a few ...

Re: never-ending gallery

I love it. There's nothing wrong with a bit of frivolity, in fact, the more the merrier. Do the hearts within hearts symbolise your caring considerate personality? Do the yellow flowers symbolise the daffodils we have been discussing? Keep up the good work. I have trouble drawing a straight line, ev...

Re: never-ending gallery

Thank you, both Lisa and Geoffrey. I certainly agree that the meaning of a poem or song that enters the consciousness of the reader or listener may not be the same as that of the author. Also our interpretation of the meaning may change over time after multiple readings or listenings. Many times, of...

Re: never-ending gallery

Thank you, Lisa. No, I did not know about the predecessor of the ukulele. You are an amazing font of knowledge. You got me singing - no, thinking and looking. There is actually a daffodil cultivar called "machete", registered prior to 1923 in UK. Then following that up by finding "daffodil symbolism...

Re: never-ending gallery

Greetings Geoffrey and Lisa.
I have been following your posts daily and enjoyed them greatly.
Geoffrey's most recent art work has stimulated me to let my ignorance hang out again.
In The Night of Santiago what do you think a daffodil machete is?
Could you draw me one, please?

Re: Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love, film by Nick Broomfield

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I was aware of quite a bit of the story, but a lot of the video and film clips were new to me.
I particularly enjoyed seeing Hydra again and seeing how little it has changed.
