Re: Leonard Cohen and Ticketmaster

Forgive me for asking, but are people complaining because they actually were able to get tickets? The process may suck for some of us older folks and the more technically challenged, but it seems to me that it beats the hell out of waiting in line all night outside of Scotti's Record Shop! That opti...

Re: Special Concert in New York

What a great night indeed at the Beacon! I'm back to work today and don't have much time to post any coherent thoughts at the moment, but it was an unforgettable show! So nice to see some of you from the forum as well!

Re: RIDICULOUS!

Again, I am pleased to see three NJ public servants (who I actually believe are respectable politicians if you can imagine that ;-) ) taking up this cause in the greater interest of the consumer. Three cheers for Milgram, Codey, and Pascrell. It takes a lot of sand to stand up to the leviathan Ticke...

Re: RIDICULOUS!

This issue is not limited to Springsteen and Cohen, that's for sure. The same thing happened with the Grateful Dead tickets that went on sale recently. The only difference is that the Dead still allow their fans to mail order for tickets before they go on sale to the general public. But amazingly en...

Re: RIDICULOUS!

I am extremely pleased that Congressman Pascrell is looking into this matter and I will contact his office as well. On a personal note, I attended Fordham University in NY with Pascrell's twin sons back in the '80s when their father was the mayor of Paterson. I have reconnected with the twins via Fa...

Re: Pre and Postconcert Meetups

Ute, Glad you're on board! My sister-in-law is Bavarian and I know how it important it is to remind Bavarians of home :D . I have friends coming in that day and after they get checked into their hotel, we are going to head to PJ Clarke's for dinner and drinks somewhere between 4 and 5 PM on the 19th...

Re: Pre and Postconcert Meetups

Hello friends of LC! I have a suggestion for the pre-show meetup. The places directly in the vicinity of the Beacon are rather small and tend to get crowded and noisy quickly. My recommendation is a place called PJ Clarke's on 63rd and Broadway. It is a landmark establishment on the Upper West Side ...

Re: Pre and Postconcert Meetups

One of my favorite old haunts for post Beacon drinks has always been the Dublin House, an old Irish bar. It's on 79th Street between Amsterdam and Broadway.

Re: RIDICULOUS!

Thanks for the fast reply, Jarkko. I signed up on the homepage with the assumption that I was going to get tour information. I wouldn't presume to tell anybody how to run their website, but you may want to pass this along to the webmaster as a head's up to avoid any confusion.

Re: RIDICULOUS!

Jarkko, Just out of curiosity, are we going to receive email alerts regarding the upcoming US/Canada tour? I signed up for this on the website, but did not receive any alert regarding the Beacon show. I understand that this is a special event, and I am wondering if I can expect an email or just keep...

Re: RIDICULOUS!

If you like Lenny Kaye, check out this YouTube vid I made of him at the Poetry Project Marathon on New Years Day-- 10 hours of poets for $18, no hassle about recording, chairs, food and socializing in the back room of St. Marks Church. Patti Smith performed their too, free. Thanks for posting the l...

Re: RIDICULOUS!

I've been reading this thread with great interest, as I have been put off for a long time by the rising costs of events tickets in general. Once they made ticket scalping legal in New York and legitimised what was once the murky practice of organised crime, I knew all bets were off for the average c...
