Re: CONCERT REPORT: Adelaide, Australia – December 11, 2013

Last night's concert at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre marked the end of Leonard's 2013 Australian tour ... and the end of the road for several folks who have been busily hopping onto and off of trains, buses and sundry other forms of transport to trek around this enormous country to follow the b...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Adelaide, Australia – December 11, 2013

Thank you posters for putting those of us eagerly waiting for our Cohen fix before your need for sleep. I also love the photos. BUT. My heart sank when I saw the photo of Leonard "I'll wear an old man's mask for you". Is he not well or was it just one of those unfortunate frozen moments? ...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Adelaide, Australia – December 11, 2013

Just back from a great show at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. Same set list as the other Aus tour show I caught (Sydney Opera House). In a nice touch, Leonard invited the tour crew up on stage for the last song (Save The Last Dance For Me). A hugely enthusiastic response from the Adelaide crowd ...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Sydney, Australia - December 2, 2013

Concert Report, Part 3 Notable Happenings There are always a few unique things that mark each concert out as different from any other. For the Sydney Opera House show, by far the most notable of these was the rather amusing anecdote which Leonard gave as a monologue in the middle of “Tower of Song”...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Sydney, Australia - December 2, 2013

Concert Report, Part 2 The Performers The whole band seemed to be having a good night, with huge amounts of energy displayed by Leonard and all band members. There was (as is often the case) a good amount of interaction between members of the band – for the most part this took the form of bowing or...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Sydney, Australia - December 2, 2013

Concert Report, Part 1 So it’s been a couple of days since I was fortunate enough to be in a capacity audience at the Sydney Opera House which witnessed Leonard Cohen’s “old ideas” brought to vivid life by the United Heart Touring Company. Even with the distance of time, I still find it a little di...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Sydney, Australia - December 2, 2013

That was a concert befitting the 40th anniversary year of the The Sydney Opera House. What a wonderful venue for a truly wonderful performance. You're not wrong Mike ... it was a great celebration of the Opera House's birthday plus a great recognition of the stature which Leonard has attained here ...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Sydney, Australia - December 2, 2013

Just back from a great night at the Sydney Opera House (and a catch up with AlanM). Doubtless both he and I will post proper reviews -- or in Alan's case videos -- later on. But for now -- wow. Another amazing show, and a very warm reception by the Sydney audience ... So much so that even despite th...

Re: Sad news: Arlene Dick has passed away

Like everyone here, I am very saddened by this news. I never met Arlene in person, though I had the great pleasure of exchanging many emails with her during my brief stint into the world she ruled supreme -- Leonard Cohen blogs. Even half a world away, Arlene's passion and devotion to Leonard (&...

Re: Report: 2nd Adelaide Leonard Cohen Event (5-6 January 20

Hi Bev, Thanks for your kind words. It would most definitely have been worth losing horribly to your lyrics-spotting skills, just to have you along to the event. It's a sacrifice I'm sure all of us supposed "experts" would willingly make :-) Next time there's a concert in Brissie, I will d...

Re: Report: 2nd Adelaide Leonard Cohen Event (5-6 January 20

The Event, Day 2 – Sunday 6 January, 2013. The second part of the two-day Adelaide event was taken up entirely by a half-day bus trip to the McLaren Vale wine region south of Adelaide. It was at a winery in this beautiful area that Leonard had performed in January 2009 (incidentally, my first LC co...

Report: 2nd Adelaide Leonard Cohen Event (5-6 January 2013)

Being involved in organised “Leonard Cohen fandom” is a bit of a curious thing. It’s at once an intensely personal thing – sharing a passion for Leonard Cohen’s words and music – and also a strangely social one. There is something about Leonard’s fans which makes meeting them at once humbling and in...

Re: Australia & NZ - Our Arms Are Open W-I-D-E!!

This is the only audience photo I have. It was taken between Augie March and Paul Kelly. i.e. just under 2 hours before LC took the stage. Here's the best "audience" shot I took at Leconfield ... I was pretty close to the front, so it really only shows a couple of rows of what was a massi...

Re: Adelaide LC Event: September 2012 -- Expressions of Inte

Hi Dean Yes I would love to attend a get-together on September 15 weekend to celebrate our mutual admiration for Leonard Cohen. I would be happy to be kept informed of this event and would like to come. I am a friend of Alan and Karin Mawhinney. Hey Marie ... that's great. I am sure that Alan will ...

Adelaide LC Event: September 2012 -- Expressions of Interest

Hi All, As a result of discussions with other folks here on the forum, there are plans afoot right now to organise some kind of event in Adelaide (South Australia) on the weekend of 15 September, to celebrate Leonard's birthday with a meeting of like-minded fans and friends. Earlier this year a spec...
