Re: 2nd CONCERT IN ST JOHNS, PRESALE TOMORROW

I would actually have been surprised if they hadn't added an extra show. When he last came to St. John's, he ended up playing 4 shows!

Re: LINK TO ST. JOHN'S ACTIVE NOW

Couldn't resist picking up tickets. I can't really justify the expense, but I would be miserable knowing he was playing a mile away and I wasn't there. Looking forward to some of the Old Ideas songs live. I saw him in Kitchener and Hamilton almost 5 years ago now, and I'm still reeling :-)

Re: Audio downloads

Yes, silly me was a little hasty in my judgement of their search. I guess I've gotten used to certain ground rules, and have gotten out of the habit of learning new ones :-) But thanks to pluses and minuses and quotations and such, I've been getting much more useful results.

Re: Audio downloads

Well, if I was willing to pay more, my existing ISP would give me better speed. Unfortunately, my current package is chosen by necessity. There's not a whole lot of choice around here. I get my internet from the same company I get my cable TV service, and there's a bundling discount... I got spoiled...

Re: Audio downloads

Does anyone have options for those of us who can't use torrents? My ISP severely limits my upload speed, so torrent clients correspondingly throttle my downloads to the point where it's completely impractical. Something like DC++ or an FTP site would be ideal for anyone who might be in a situation s...

Re: Kitchener/Hamilton Hotel/Gathering Places

Well, tonight's the night. Show starts in 3 hours or so. I guess I probably won't be meeting up with anyone beforehand, except in line. My wife and I really needed to tackle the disaster which is our apartment, so I decided to be virtuous. I'll be heading for Kitchener soon, maybe browse in a used b...

Re: Also Tom Waits may be playing Europe this summer

I'd love to see Tom Waits, but the man just really doesn't seem to feel like touring very often. The North American leg of the tour (announced in a fun fake press conference ) is lamentably frugal, especially for those of us of the Canadian persuasion. Europe does have the advantage that the distanc...

Re: Kitchener/Hamilton Hotel/Gathering Places

If there's some interest, we should have a meetup, perhaps of a musical variety. Driving in Hamilton is extremely confusing for the uninitiated (I go around), but Kitchener is very pleasant. Shouldn't be hard to pick a spot. Cambridge, which is right next to Kitchener, is where I live, and I know th...

I think I would be roaming the streets, pressing my ear to the wall of any potential building.

My guess would be that BGV = Background Vocals, and that Kit = drum kit. Great pictures. Very exciting!

Re: oh boo hoo i didn't get tickets..........

I dunno. I've always found there's something magical about being in the same room as someone whose art moves you profoundly. Live music and recorded music are two different beasts, and I love them both. For a variety of reasons, I get to experience a lot less of the former than the latter, but I hav...

Re: Holy Heart Theatre in St. John's

I haven't been there in a while, and apparently it's recently been redone, but it's a lovely venue. I think it'll be a fantastic place to see Leonard. It has a sort of magic feeling to it somehow, though I'm not sure exactly why...

Re: Requesting permission to sing a cover tune

Cover tunes on Youtube and elsewhere are an odd issue. Theoretically yes, you do need to obtain permission before doing so. It used to be the Harry Fox Agency that took care of such matters for most labels, though I don't know if that's still the case. That being said, the fact that there are severa...

I notice from the pictures that only about half of the members have beards. Perhaps that's part of the conspiracy?

Re: Got tickets !!!

That's very good of you -- the real spirit of this kind of event. It's great to subvert the plans of jerks who want to unduly make huge profits off the sincere desire of fans to see good music. I would really have liked to be in the position to pick up tickets for others who would be unable to get t...
