Re: Glastonbury (June 29)

He mentions Dylan's abysmal late 90s Glastonbury set... as I mentioned previously it was one of the most underwhelming experiences of my musical life so far... I am a person who is fairly easily pleased when it comes to live music... I enjoy festivals because you get to see people you've not seen be...

Re: Older and Wiser (previously "Confusion")

You can listen to the song above here... apologies for the quality etc... just me and an acoustic... as I said, it's a "work in progress", and the recording is an evolution from, maybe, 2002... when I'm Leonard's age I'll probably have finished it, lol!! http://seanmiller.net/confuse.ram When I writ...

Older and Wiser (previously "Confusion")

Wrote this song about 10 years ago... lyrically it was never finished to my satisfaction, but posting here in its most recent incarnation... Intro: Help me! I don't know what to do! I don't know what I'm thinking I can't control the thoughts that strike like arrows all the day! Lately, confusion rei...

Re: 4 x 2008 Concerts on Disc

I've downloaded Montreal and it's a belter (!) -- it's the 3-CD set rather than the later posted higher-quality version [on Dime], but it's good enough for me :-) Happy to do a few copies for those who don't torrent, trade (ie. another gig) or no-trade if folks can't... will go buy some blanks tomor...

Re: Glastonbury (June 29)

Thanks "tempted" :-) I only joined the forum too after the gig on Sunday, having enjoyed Leonard Cohen's music for years but never having been as "enthused" as I am at present... I knew he was good, not just HOW good (!) Now seriously considering, if I can do some black market racketeering (lol) to ...

It was... and I was quite a way away...

But one of the nights of my life :-)

Re: Glastonbury (June 29)

Yes but the problem for me with big stadiums and festivals is not merely one of cost it is also one of scale. The artist is so far away that you cannot see them except on screens, cannot hear them and if you are short like me, with minor back problems just find yourself squeezed among people who to...

Re: Management photo restrictions

A few points... a. the contract is dated 2nd June, so has clearly not been produced specifically for any one country b. siting in a contract that the laws applied will be those of the country of residence of the writer of the contract (in this case UHTC, whom I assume have their head offices in Cali...

Re: Glastonbury (June 29)

Seanmiller...are you shepton mallet local? i had 2 really enjoyable days there and spent some time in the local surrounding area. It is really a beautiful countryside (off festival site anyway, that bit is a smidgin crowded  ). Although even from on site up high there are incredible views of t...

Re: Glastonbury (June 29)

Honeyrose, With about 40 stages around the site I don't think the BBC would have weeped many tears at being unable to show a few songs from Leonard Cohen... I am assuming you have never been to the Festival as this question of "what are they paying for?" wouldn't, imho, be being asked if you had. Th...

Re: Glastonbury (June 29)

You had the benefit of standing on dry ground, presumably indoors... standing in sticky mud with the same arrogance from Dylan put me off the man for life.

Re: Glastonbury (June 29)

The withered long-stemmed rose I left in the Glastonbury grass I dedicate to her, to all the people that were so understandably disappointed not to be there and not to be able to see it broadcast, and to Field Commander Cohen himself – darling Leonard. Can I admit that post made me cry? Thank you -...

Re: Glastonbury (June 29)

The highlight of the festival for me. I guess we're fans now. I can't disagree with any of that... every time I visit a Festival I hope to be blown away... sometimes it happens, sometimes it does not... In 1991 there was no Glastonbury so I went to Reading and was treated to Nick Cave (circa. "The ...

Re: Glastonbury (June 29)

Did they cover Roger Waters when he played in 2002 (in approx. the same slot as Leonard Cohen was this year, I think)?? Never seen any footage of it on Youtube so guessing he might be another of the Festival headliners that have chosen not to have their gig broadcast. There are precedents... as I th...

Re: Glastonbury (June 29)

Not quite sure why so many reviewers seem to have been astounded by LC changing "here" to "Glastonbury" that they feel they have to mention it - there were so many other genius moments in the night... now if he'd actually tweaked "Suzanne" something like this (entirely tongue-in-cheek, btw!! please ...
