Re: Bob Johnston
RIP Bob. By an eerie coincidence I watched both Isle Of Wight and Bird On A Wire for the first time in years on Saturday and have been marvelling at Bob Johnston's immense contribution to Songs Of Love And Hate, my favourite album ever, and to Blonde On Blonde, my favourite Dylan LP http://www.rolli...

Loser on the Moon: On Leonard Cohen, Fandom, and Posterity
Please read this wonderful article by Kevin Mandel, an author, about what Leonard Cohen means to those of us with the GENE, that is those who he means an incredible amount to (most of us on this forum), and why Leonard's legacy is so important to us (though apparently not to Leonard himself). Much o...

Rufus Wainwright's Wedding
Rufus Wainwright is getting married tomorrow (August 23rd) in Montauk NY and his wedding reception is meant to consist of only live music. Given that Leonard is playing Amsterdam tonight and then has a break for a few days, is there's any chance he will be going? It would probably need a private jet...

Jack Beats – End of Love

Re: Places you have shared with Leonard
I went for a slightly less high tech version when I had an MRI, and that consisted of me singing to myself Chelsea Hotel and Famous Blue Raincoat for 20 minutes!

Leonard & Shakira
Shakkira - what a roué that Leonard is you might think, but no, I'm not trying to start that sort of rumour. There was a interview in today's Guardian in which Shakira: "says she studied writing lyrics in English "when I could barely speak the language", with the aid not merely of a d...

Re: Which LP Should Leonard play live in its entirety?
It's interesting what JohnE says about the relative darkness of SOLAH and DOALM which contrast with Leonard's mental state today, but I don't think that should stop LC from performing those albums. I agree with somewhat_nifty's view that the songs do not need to be performed in the same bleak and an...

Which LP Should Leonard play live in its entirety?
Given the vogue for artists to play a whole of an album live - I think started by Brian Wilson with Pet Sounds - should Leonard Cohen do that and if so, what LP should get that treatment? It is incredibly naff (a bit like the word naff itself) for bloated heritage artists to try to get a bit of dosh...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Weybridge, July 11
What an interesting concert My first gig in 2009 and it wwas interesting to compare to the 8 last year, and to the Live In London DVD. Interestingly, and possibly obviously, the band are a lot tighter. Although the shows were great last year, and the band excellent, they really played like a 'real' ...

Re: Setlists
That's very interesting dzzz and explains why I thought the version of So Long Marianne was a mess at the beginning of the tour - but have subsequently thought it back to its best. Thanks
