Re: Leonard Cohen's 76th Birthday - The Video

Beautiful montage, which I shall watch many times!

And it helps that "Forever Young" is the song that I would like played at my funeral. (In the very distant future.) Great version live version of it too; I can't figure out where from.

Re: AUSTRALIA AND NZ - TICKET LINKS

I just got a bit carried away and spent $980 on four "Gold" seating tickets in Hobart through http://www.preferredseating.com.au . Now, can someone please tell me what are Gold tickets exactly? They cost much more than Silver seating so I'm assuming they're much better. I rarely see live ...

Re: Cohen Heads? or Cohenites?

Cohen Addicts (or Cake Addicts) would still be CA. Both could be applied to me, although I'm in Australia, where CA means "Chartered Accountant" (which I'm not).

Re: Cool Cohen Flash tour

Thanks Bert, much enjoyed. I even learned that it's Janis singing on Who by Fire. How come that has passed me by for all these years? ;-)

You're not too jaundiced, hydriot, I think you've nailed their academic laziness / opportunism - you're spot on.

Re: Playing with Cohen - great article

Thanks you so much for posting this wonderful piece. I shall have to print a copy to keep with my programme book from this tour, so that I can reread it form time to time. :D

Re: "Leonard Cohen Live in London" - DVD & 2CD - April 2009

I've listened to the CDs several times since buying them on Saturday, and remain entranced. I agree about the remarkably high sound quality, which I did expect based on how well the sound engineers coped with the arena environment at the Entertainment Centre here in Brisbane. I haven't watched the D...

The Favourite Game - review in Rhythms (Australian magazine)

The new (April) issue of Rhythms magazine here in Australia includes the review below of The Favourite Game, since it's just been released here for the first time. Available online at: http://www.rhythms.com.au/news,id,8539.aspx (The paper issue also includes an excellent review of the Autralian tou...

Re: Free Leonard Cohen video for Verizon FiOS TV users

Thanks for posting this, Phantom Stranger. I was living in the UK at that time, and used to watch Later With Jools Holland as often as not, but must have missed the week when Leonard appeared. (They never announced the guests in advance, presumably to ensure that you always watched "just in cas...

Blackbushe

Whilst I wasn't at the Isle of Wight, I was at "The Picnic" at Blackbushe, July 1978. (Hey Andrew, maybe we actually met there 30 years ago, rather than at your Toowoomba Cohen event 2 years ago!) Not only was I there (with the other 120,000) but I still have the programme to prove it, and...

Re: Bootlegs and dimeadozen

Tom, that's why apart from Leonard's Brisbane show for which I was desperate, I downloaded something new (I chose a Neil Young show which I knew I'd enjoy anyway) so that it would get my ratio up much more quickly, which it did. (If I had the bandwidth to spare I could have just kept it up for days ...

Re: NPR to webcast Beacon Theatre show on Feb 26

If the download is an MP3, it'll play on any portable player, not just an ipod, so worry not. Personally I'm in the office and about to start work (since I'm in Australia) and won't be able to download the concert until tomorrow (since I'm lucky enough to be going to see Jackson Browne tonight), but...

If the tour here in the Antipodes managed to put him in the top 10, I wonder what the US tour will do there?

Re: Bootlegs

Thanks janedw, have downloaded tlh and will play with it tonight. Meanwhile I used BURRN successfully to burn the CDs, 3 of them, for one show :) , and have used Media Monkey to listen to some of the FLAC files directly.
