This ia obviously a tough one....I came up with a shortlist of 5 in no particular order:
Dress Rehearsal Rag, Love Calls You By Your Name, If it Be Your Will, Death of a Ladies Man, Bird on The Wire. Stranger Song, Waiting for the Miracle and Love Itself just missed the cut.
For what it's worth my least favorite songs are That Don't make it Junk (still don't see the point of it) , The Future (another doomsday cult anthem) and I Can't Forget (I had trouble remembering it's name)

I could never get it down to a single favourite, but since most other people seem to be having the same problem I'll see how close I can get.
Famous Blue Raincoat and Bird on the Wire have been abiding favourites for many years. If it be Your Will and Halleluja also stand out. Alexandra Leaving is possibly my favourite off TNS, though Land of Plenty would run it a close second.
Two which I could probably live without are Un Canadien Errant and Leaving Lady Greensleeves.

Almost every song of his is great...except Always...which I can't get used to. I used to hate Closing Time, but is has grown on me..but I would not list it as my favourite. Chelsea Hotel is great...but I would not allow under 16's to listen to it, because of some of the lyrics.especially the line about the unmade head..oooops, sorry, you know what I meant!! Great line though. it never fails to lose its resonance. It keeps coming back at you. Cohen really can blow your mind for you. Fantastic.
favourite songs
"Love Itself" "A thousand kisses deep" "Famous blue Raincoat" and many others.....

Leaving Green Sleeves
"Leaving Green Sleeves" It's very good ...

How can one resist this subject -
My two favorite albums remain Various postions and recent songs.( and or field commander Cohen) followed now closely by TNS. All time favorite song - the window, also like if it be your will, ,dance me to the end of love, gyspy wife, take this waltz, good old suzanne and marianne ...also love take this longing, and lady midnight.
ah so many songs are very beautiful ...also depends on ones mood and which version one is hearing
From TNS which I like all of very much - my favorites are By the rivers dark and love itself ........but all of them )
