Ah Phil.... that is magic.

Please bring a copy of all your poems to Kracow for me :)..... I would carry it with me always and whenever I need a smile just read it at random..... I know I know... serious fandom here :)

just for henning......

...i was in manchester yesterday afternoon and enjoyed watching those good folk from bavaria enjoying themselves in the city sunshine...

...however i was really puzzled by sir alex ferguson’s remark ‘typical germans’ on tv after last night’s match....

.....it would appear that the brave boys from munich stand accused by ferguson of going about their business in a ruthlessly efficient manner and seeking to exploit the weaknesses of their opponents at every available opportunity…..typical germans.....

............pretending to be all nice and friendly when all the time secretly doing everything in their incredibly effective soul-destroying powers to knock out manchester united from the competition…..typical Germans...

.....then they had the nerve to pass the ball around so efficiently putting it in manchester united’s net whenever they wanted to…... typical germans

.....they also must have definitely told Rafael to make two silly and completely unnecessary challenges ensuring he was sent off…....typical germans

.....so a big thank you to my bravian friends for showing sir alex ferguson, rat rooney and co how typical germans are when it comes to playing football..........ta ken

Hi Ken - yes I smiled when I saw that Alex comment on the net this morning. Munich is the German Manchester and everyone hates them here except for the Munich fans of course but yesterday, well it was good to see them come back in the match and then safe their life with that incredible goal by Robben. It's for the first time in 8 years that a German team makes the semi-final. And as for poor Alex: "Go with grace, man".

And while I am here, like many others I enjoy reading Phil's poetic outcome. What a talent wasted on a Yorkshire man. Or is that mean to say so ? You all blame Yorkshire people for all kind of things and I just try to be mainstream. I have never been to Yorkshire so far. Should I go ?

phil.....a beautiful and hearfelt homage to jean.....

...i have something on my mind which perhaps you can help me with......last week at a family funeral i met a couple of cousins with whom i was very close to up until about 25 years ago when our paths in life took very different directions...... I was quiet taken aback when they told that they both now live and work in YORKSHIRE!!.....both cousins now have a bevy of born-and-bred-in-yorkshire young teenagers between them who all speak with yorkshire accents....i have to tell you it was a hell of a shock to be addressed throughout the day as 'uncle ken' in a thick yorkshire accent......my problem is I can’t decide at the moment is whether this newly discovered yorkshire branch of my family tree is going to prove to be a weakening or a strengthening of the family’s bloodline….any thoughts on the matter?

……however one good thing came about from the meeting…..after a full and not so interesting life I am now left with only two ambitions left to achieve….to hear bob dylan sing tomorrow is a long time or restless farewell live in concert and to find the perfect sausage……….hmmm that's 3 i suppose.........anyways during the funeral my newly discovered yorkshire family members recommended yorkshire’s very own debbie and andrew’s harrogate 97% pork sausages……..so after a bit of googling I have managed to get hold of a few packs….from tesco on-line of all places

……btw I forgot to tell you that while I was on the east coast of yorkshire in february I picked up a copy of peter robinson’s caedmon’s song in whitby which just happens to be the the novel's location ….so yorkshire thanks to that old monk caedmon is not only the birthplace of english poetry but also thanks to debbie and andrew maybe the home of the perfect sausage…I will report on the sausages as soon as I’ve sampled them………….

......please tell jean that I will be travelling light and will be only carrying hand luggage to krakow…I hope this cheers her up….ta ken

Regarding the strengthening or weakening of you family bloodline .You might just have solved that conumdrum yourself as you intuitively pointed out you were greeted all day by a "thick yorkshire accent" . Now I have no intention of disparaging your new found family members but the word "thick" in yorkshire does not usually mean the size of something except when refering to sausages
Ken said :"please tell Jean I will be travelling light "
Thanks alot Ken I am now tormented to a few hours of cliff richard cds after reading your post to Jean(the devil women)

Phil,
I love your latest poetic offerings :) Keep up the good work, writing and looking after Jean.

Henning,
Yorkshire is indeed well worth visiting. There is beautiful walking country. I have fond memories of several holidays renting cottages in the Yorkshire Dales when the children were teenagers. Maybe we can have alternate years in Britain and Europe for our walking meet-ups :?:

I second Margaret: The Yorkshire Dales are beautiful, as are many other spots in the UK and Ireland. Ain't it wonderful at the moment with Spring bursting out all over:-)!!

The sun poured down like honey today :D

Ken very well said regarding the football match.

By the way, the perfect sausage.... have you not tried bratwurst on one of your many trips to Germany :) :) .. Great sausages!

At the Open Mic session in Kracow, wouldn't it be wonderful if someone sang one of Phils poems to Leonards music :)

Not sure thats such a good idea Bernie . As much as I am flattered I am also acutely aware that messing with L C lyrics isn't to everybodys liking .

Instead of Chelsea Hotel 2, you could perhaps give us Malham Tarn 3.56 ? But whatever you do, don't mention a Bandstand !!
