"who is she?" - Well, teratogen, the thought entered my mind that a poet can be female as well as male, I know some female poets who really excel, and some of the best poets in this forum actually are female. To keep gender prejudice out of the paragraph I decided to switch from female pronouns to male, and back. (Not sooo unusual a technique...)
Tom it is quite noble of you to use the female pronoun instead of the male, however having chosen a sex for your poet you need to stick to it. You cannot keep changing it on alternate sentences. Then again maybe your hypothetical poet is a shemale.

p. - I did, thereby proving I could. ;) But I agree that sticking to one grammatical gender consistently for the whole paragraph would've made the reading easier.

yes, it would have. i know of that technique, but i see it very rarely. i had a philosophy professor who did that in his lectures and it was a bit odd, but then again, so was he. he was a very nice man, but he was soooo very politically correct.

so, your philosophy professor was politically correct? good for her. I hope he was passionate about it and did everything she could to promote it.

one of the greatest con-tricks during my lifetime has been to turn that approach into something to be sneered at. well, that's how it is in England anyway. the tabloids run this country....for now
