bee, thank you for proving every single point I wanted to make about the 'real' world and the knowledge accrued in the collective grey cells of certain contributers in this forum. Thousands of starving human beings struggle to get through each day and you attempt to make cheap, nasty jokes in your own inimitable style. Keep em' comin' bee. You're the best advert so far for why I wrote my piece.

Ghandi, Tutu, Moses, ...........???????
Amnesty International and Oxfam have saved hundreds and thousands of lives. Aid workers around the world put their lives at risk every day. Many have been killed. You make cheap sarcastic remarks. Keep em' comin' bee.
bee, the man was elected. I have no quibble with the election. The man who lost was hardly top drawer either.
And thanks for expressing your personal condolences for the killing of 3 Black Watch soldiers.
Many of us have shown true sympathies for the loss of so many American lives since this war started.
You might like to try and return the courtesy some time.

i see my "FUCK" was removed from the thread title. mark twain once said, "when angry, count to four; when really angry, curse." so that GODDAMN COCKSUCKING MOTHERFUCKING PIECE OF SHIT SON OF A BITCH is once again the corporate sponsor president of the united states.
to the incomperable bee: thank you for proving one of my main points: that bush supporters are airheads.
do i have to once again defend my "stab" remarks? hahaha. it's funny. i can't see myself dancing around with flowers in my hair myself. that's just too fruity for me. but you ought to know that, you live in san francisco, where i might have expected more from you. you sit here and call me a dove because i said i wouldn't ever act violently towards women. i guess that might work. non-violence towards women makes me non-violent towards everything. i like your inductive reasoning: very slippery slope. and my hatred for mr. bush still stands.
to kush: are you quoting stephen stills? hahahahaha. are you saying he is more intelligent than cohen and dylan put together?
to lizzy: alright, so let's give midnight the benefit of all our doubts, that he is not uneducated, not sophisticated, not nuanced, and not respectable. but the fact still remains: SURE IS STILL AN ASSHOLE.

I can't agree with that, at all, Teratogen. Midnight and I have both been around these parts for a long time together. We've had a lot of back-and-forth, but I never called Midnight names. Midnight never called me names [at least not to my face
]. We each have strongly-held convictions. Mine happen to be far more in alignment with yours, albeit they're expressed very differently! Those convictions come to be for many, varying reasons. It doesn't serve to appropriate the individual with that laundry list of derogatively-intended terms; or to discard them all in lieu of a singular, equally-inappropriate pejorative. It gains nothing, and certainly loses much.
Respectfully,
Elizabeth

Teratogen mentioned Mark Twain. It reminded me of a prayer he wrote, that i read in 'The Sun' magazine last month. My fear of any leader who rules with "his" 'God' on his side, is great.
Below is Twain's prayer:
O Lord, our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with their little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sport of the sun-flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the source of love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen. (mark twain)

You subscribe to The Sun, Laurie? I did for awhile, but the whole subscription business got so botched up that I had to stop it entirely ~ told them I'd likely be back at a later date. Did you ever purchase the whole sets of the books? I had my order in for those, as well, but cancelled them, too, in the midst of the other snafu.
No one could make it any more clear than Mark Twain did with this conjured 'prayer' ~ very well done. If some would only take the Truth it holds into account. Thanks for posting it, Laurie.

ok.... here is a change on my part... or at least the beginnings of one.
i seem to have upset lizzy, and that is one of the last things i want to do. honestly. i have had discussions with people over this issue since yesterday and it seems to have done me no good but to become more irate. it is like that quote i read around here equating hate to poison.
my very close, good, and loving best friend, sean (known here as smccallon) is in very spiritual alignment with those of you who are already taking to the healing process. i ought to do the same. it's just that everytime i try to reflect and think to myself, the more i fear for this country's future, the more i see nothing but tough times ahead for those who disagree with bush and half the american public. i may dislike bush as a person, but i voted kerry because i thought he'd be better for the country. even if i thought bush was an okay guy, i still would have voted for kerry because of my beliefs that he would have been better for the country. but i see that, in my view, half the country doesn't want better times. so why bother? this is their future, not mine. this is what you wanted, and this is what you get.
i may be crude in my opinions, but i am not afraid to curse loudly and proudly. even leonard has cursed plenty of times! i know a lot of you are trying to bring in lyrics and quotes from leonard to set up some enlightenment, and that may be a good thing. i ought to listen to leonard more now during the next week or two so i can get myself straight and not dwell on this anymore. my hatred may be juvenile, but it's genuine. and though i am NOT violent, i do often lose control of my anger (although it does make for some good songwriting!).
i believe that without a balance of opposing sides nothing can be accomplished. from my views here you can all see how cynical i am. i had a great hope for america in the past few years or so, as i honestly thought we were all figuring out how much we've been taken advantage of. i honestly thought most of america was ready to make a change. it appears i have been duped as well. and my hope is teetering. four years is a long ways away from the present, but by that time my hope could possibly be fully restored, just so long as nobody equal to or less than bush becomes president.
i have a spectacular weekend set up for me. tomorrow i am going to a laurie anderson concert, staying at a good friend's pad at ucla, along with sean, and then the 3 of us are going to a festival the next day where lou reed is the headlining act. not only that but we've got backstage passes. then on tuesday we are going to a john cale concert. this will be an extraordinary couple of days and for me to have a good time only i can let it happen. and it is what i must do. and it is what i will do.
i will post this same exact message on lizzy's thread, for whoever is reading either thread and wishes to respond. thank you.

Veterans of the Black Watch in their home town of Perth are saying that all Scotland is angry tonight. Blair and his few cronies have sent young men to their deaths.
A mother on the Black Watch web site asks Blair if he can sleep in his bed tonight. To make it perfectly clear to those who are not from my country, you have to be aware that the huge (I mean massive) majority of the people in this country don't want anything to do with the war in Iraq. Ask anyone in our neighbourhood, friends, family, colleagues, radio phone-in programmes and you will get the same response every time. From all over the UK. Get out of Iraq Tony. He accepts that the reasons he gave for going in were based on poor decision making. He moved the goal posts to accomodate other reasons for going in, and refuses to apologise for making any mistake.
I very much doubt that people outside the UK realise how much anger and resentment there is for this country's political leaders. Half of Blair's Cabinet had walked out over going to war. These were and are intelligent and clever men and women. Not idiots who follow like lapdogs and who have no backbone. It is very hard to walk away from a position of power, influence and enviable salary, after spending a working life climbing to the top of the greasy political pole, but these people did walk away.
laurie, thank you for the Mark Twain prayer. A blunt portrayal of what war is really like. Not some image gleaned from a TV screen, while sitting on a sofa in one's own home.
War is guts, snot, blood, headless corpses, legless men screaming for their mothers. Dying in abject misery for a political cause and a G-d who is claimed by both sides for their own.
3 scottish soldiers are dead tonight because Tony Blair wants to be friends with GWBush.
It makes me puke. I'm sorry for this tirade, but we said a couple of weeks ago that men alive then would soon be dead and I'm so bloody angry that it has come true. Our politicians are killing our children. Where's Bush's anti-abortion moral stance now. He sends our children to their deaths. Blair does the same.

For everyone who is so vitriolic in their responses to the results of this election and the war ----Get off this forum, get off your --s and DO something. I don't think much of your all-consuming concern. Joining an organization or giving money to some peace cause is obviously not enough. Chain yourself to a lamp-post. Get your friends to do the same. Get arrested. March in the streets. Demonstrate. For those in GB it should be fairly easy (since the vast majority oppose Blair's position on the war) to bring the government to it's knees. Strike. You used to be good at it. Everyone should refuse to go to work until Blair is forced to call an election. It would only take a week. Kick him out of office and bring your soldiers home. You could do it. But you won't.
And what a miserable and horrible life it is for you~ Teratogen
Every week a concert and music and wine, friends and good times, but~ in a meantime- you are so opressed- poor you, poor baby. This bad wolf G.Bush is spoiling your day, sure you must to show 'im- you are not to stand for that anymore. Mobilise your forces, dear boy!
I am so flattered by your calling me an airhead- watch out- I can fall in love with you
i could become your femme fatale, than you'll be in trouble without any effort from the bad wolf Bush- big trouble, my boy.
Midnight graciously forgives your nasty name calling, not me
If I'll haved some spare time, I'll grill you. I am not the one femme fatale who'll tolerate your fantasies about raping and killing Bush's daughters which you blurted out in such a rush, almost like you've lost your concert tickets under your bed~ so it'll be the right time for them to pay for your misfortune.
Byron- you make me so tired with your waving of the AI memebership card, also making your "points" hiding behind the Amnesty International people who've made sacrifices etc. You have no points besides your masturbating moralistic preaching.
