The Trishas
Re: The Trishas
Hi Kush,
Especially enjoyed the cover of "She Ain't Goin' Nowhere" by The Trishas.
Speaking of Guy Clark covers, David Allan Coe did a great job with his cover of
"Desperados Waiting For A Train."

Re: The Trishas
Hi Steven,
It is an excellent cover version but I like their other tracks equally. Lot of soul. As they put it "Texas dirt, Mississippi river water, City lights and apple pie" - pretty accurate. Someone introduced me to their music last weekend. Note that Lloyd Maines (Natalie Maines Dad) is playing pedal steel on the She Ain't Goin' Nowhere performance on the right side of the stage.
Wish they had picked a more original name to call themselves though.
I just checked out David Allan Coe's version of Desperados Waiting for a Train. I'd put it up there with Jerry Jeff Walker's but my favorite version is by the Highwaymen, which I like better than Guy Clark original too.

Re: The Trishas
Hi,
Attended the concert and enjoyed it. "The Messenger" was one of my favorite Ray Wylie Hubbard songs performed that evening. The "old poet" spoken of in the song is Rilke and the Mr. Van Zandt mentioned in the song I take to be Townes Van Zandt. (Ray Wylie Hubbard was an interviewee in Brian T. Atkinson's book I'll Be Here In The Morning: The Songwriting Legacy of Townes Van Zandt.)

Re: The Trishas
The Messenger is a great song Steven. Glad to hear you were able to enjoy Ray Wylie Hubbard and 1/4 of the Trishas. I am sorry that they are on hiatus as a group, hope it does not become a permanent break. They have a very unique sound together.
Am posting from India right now. Will spend a few days in Europe as well before heading home.

Hi Kush,
You'd also have enjoyed the concert. Wish you could have been there. Hope your travels abroad are
going well. Take care.

Savannah Welch loses leg
I was shocked to read yesterday that on Nov 2 this year Savannah Welch of The Trishas got caught up in a freak car accident and had to have her leg amputated. Wishing her speedy recovery.

Although not a full time group - with family and other commitments - I thought they were a super talented foursome from Austin rivaling the Dixie Chicks.
