Thanks for the update!
I had the privilege of seeing the Conspiracy of Beards in San Francisco recently when they played before Sharon Robinson.
They were quite something and well worth it. Its one thing to see 40 men wearing fedora's and suits of varying kinds, some with beards
but all with amazing voices singing familiar tunes. It was hysterical at times visually but their voices are very good.
Still not sure if I can make it to the event but thanks for all the hard work you all are putting into it. Time will tell if I will be there.

2012 Austin x 2/Seattle/Vancouver/Montreal x 2.
2013 Oakland x 2/New York City x 2/Winnipeg...

Oh, I hope you'll be able to come, Mutti, and will be able to determine that soon. I don't know what the exact time frames are for getting things organized and committed, but I know that they really do need to know further out to be able to make it all happen. I'm not just saying that to you, but to everyone. I hope people will begin to commit soon, so Joe CAN go forward with firming up plans and performers. The Event itself will be WONDERFUL, but there are certain numbers required for it to be able to happen financially.

I am VERY excited to finally be able to attend my 2nd Leonard Cohen Event! The 2004 NYC Event was so great, having the opportunity to meet many new friends and share our mutual love for the work of the best songwriter in the history of the English language. Yes, and the concerts and actual "events" were top notch too!

And now that I've seen you comment elsewhere, John, I don't mind responding to you here... I just didn't want to make your name disappear by adding mine. I was happy to see that you are coming to Madison, too. It was great to first meet you in New York and since at various concerts... and to count you a friend through a wide variety of other interactions.

To anyone who's feeling concerned about the length of the schedule, it is NOT necessary that you take an entire week for being there. Joe has simply been generous in offering us other things to do, as well, on either side of the official weekend of the Event. If that's all you can manage to attend, we welcome you!!!

That is a VERY good point Lizzy! When I came to NYC I arrived on the day before the event, but did not start hanging around with Cohen folks until the first official day (having been from the NY area I took some time to myself). Despite the fact that so many knew each other, and then a huge group went on the Circle Line together, I thought it might take a bit for me to meet people. But it didn't matter, I met people right away and was never alone if I didn't want to be.

For Madison, I'm arriving the day the event starts and leaving on Monday morning.

I hope that commenting here will move this to the top... trying to figure out the real deal schedule for lodging both places [Chicago and Wisconsin], as I'm one day off!

I guess I need to call the University, as I had been operating under the assumption that we would be spending the night of August 1st there.
Do you have their number, so I can find out from them exactly what my proposed date of arrival is?
I can't find anything on it!
