Some Favorite Dylan Lyric Words

Post by Steven »

Hi,

From "Positively 4th Street,": "when you know as well as me you'd rather see me paralyzed..."

I think this line is revealing!

I've been trying to get as far away from myself as I can ...
from Things Have Changed
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to B4real ~ me
Attitude is a self-fulfilling prophecy ~ me ...... The magic of art is the truth of its lies ~ me ...... Only left-handers are in their right mind!

Hi,

I thought about these lines yesterday having read this article in The Guardian.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/ ... ay-parents

Anyway, the lines that came to me were from a little known wonder called Cross the Green Mountain:

A letter to mother
Came today
Gunshot wound to the breast
Is what it did say

But he'll be better soon
He's in a hospital bed
But he'll never be better
He's already dead

All the best,
Merton

PS. I'm going to see Bob Dylan in Cork in two weeks time. If I see him I'll say hello for you Steven :)

Hi B4real,

The line is revealing. -- Lots of people try to get as far away from themselves as they can, at many times in
their lives.

Hi Merton,

The story reported in The Guardian article is heartbreaking. Can understand why that story brought to mind the
Dylan lines you quoted.

Enjoy the Dylan concert in Cork. Am happy that you'll be attending it.

Favorite Dylan lyrics: all of them (same with Cohen) but I especially love humorous, bizarre imagery, as in these lines from Things Have Changed: "feel like fallin' in love with the first woman I meet/ puttin' her in a wheelbarrow and wheelin' her down the street." Cracks me up every time, like Cohen's "it's lonesome here, there's no one left to torture."

ah, I just had to do this.

"The sun's not yellow, it's chicken!"
from Tombstone Blues

....and on another note a line that Leonard has quoted on more than one occasion as well....

"Everything stays down when it's wounded"
from Series Of Dreams
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to B4real ~ me
