Geoffrey, I would greatly welcome your wisdom and intuition here. I can't see any clues whether the tattee above whose leg we see freshly inked, is male or female. It would be a wonderful game to deduce the gender of the leg and then when I meet the owner on Hydra this summer I could ask the owner to confirm!
I do have this theory - men are more likely to call the poet/singer "Lenny". It has a casual intimacy whereas the female fans are far more likely to call him Leonard, or Mr Cohen. So I go for male! oth the leg is very shapely, so I go for female.
My other theory is that the leg belongs to M arcus W atney (which, I accept would not therefore solve the gender issue). I say that because it resembles a stalk.
