I think Joey's picture has become a favorite of "ping pong people" on the internet.

We had been at the concert in Berlin in 2008 and I thought I couldn't go to another concert because it had to be disappointing after this heavenly experience. Well, it was not disappointing. Thanks to this forum we sat in the front row and to see Mr. Cohen and his perfect band from this near was so great, great, great, it meant the world to me. It is unbelievable that at the age of 76 his voice still is, there is not other word for it: perfect. No matter whether he stood or kneeled while singing, his voice was perfect. We also enjoyed to see the Webb sisters. I think I will never understand how they manage to look so relaxed but concentrated at the same time while their singing is nothing less than brilliant.
We enjoyed each and every minute of the concert and the time passing didn't feel like 3 1/2 hours. We had hoped that Mr. Cohen and the band would perform Lover Lover which is my favourite song but unfortunately they did not. I wonder if this is due to the fact that Mrs. Robinson didn't participate. Like others have written in different threads before: She leaves a gap but the Webb sisters are doing best to step in there. I somehow missed a word about her lacking, although I know that it is a personal thing. I don't mean that we should been told about the exact cause why she wasn't there, but just a little note that she is not well enough to be with them. I so hope she is feeling better soon. Surely singing when she is not 100 % well could do permanent harm to her voice. I hope it is nothing serious and she only has to give herself, especially her voice, some rest.

Voila! What a wonderful concert this heartwarming man and his excellent band gave us here in Hannover as a gift.
Somehow over 30 years of my 40 years of existence (my older sisters introduced me already in early childhood to his songs) ran through my brain and soul during this amazing concert.
I am happy and grateful I had a chance to witness him on live (and we were lucky to have very good seats to the right in the second row). A friend of mine came along, even though he wasn't a fan or has any albums of him - after a while he was so thrilled and amazed by LC and the superb performance of the band. Especially the humble and appreciative way of Mr. Cohen introducing his band was heartwarming. I am still thrilled.

To everyone who is going to see him while he is still on this great Tour: Enjoy!

I am in Germany at my father´s place and have only very limited acces to the Internet, so only a short post and my photos I can first upload, when I am back home.

It was a marvellous concert in Hannover. And very special to us - I had brought my children, as you probably know.
They are great fans of Leonard Cohen. And my youngest daughter, Stella Sophia, knowing, that these will be the last concerts with Leonard, waved to him from time to time.
And then - when he sang "So long Marianne", he suddenly stopped and held a little break, smiled to her and gave her a wave back before he sang "You are really such a little pretty one" while he looked her into the eyes and smiled at her. It was so touching, I will never forget it ...nor will she.

Tonight we will be in Dortmund. The children are already so excited ... and I am, too.

Hope we will meet you ...

Yours, Amrei

Indeed, that was a nice moment also for the rest of the audience near by during "So long Marianne..." - I was already wondering to whom Mr. Cohen was smiling and waving.

Nice one!

I've been dying to hear that at each of the concerts I've been to :(

Maybe in Bratislava? :)
Never mind Bratislava! How about Dortmund on Wednesday??? I too have been hoping to hear Avalanche since the earliest shows in 2008, alas without any success .... so far ....

Wendy
I know exactly what you mean. 11 concerts and still not heard "Avalanche". The version from Songs From the Road really whetted my appetite prior to Lille, so I was hopeful of hearing it there... but it was not played. Still, all the other fantastic songs make up for it, so I am probably being a bit greedy. On the face of it I never thought I would get the opportunity to see Leonard Cohen in concert even once. So still grateful to have attended so many great performances. I still pinch myself even now. Not complaining at all due to the fantastic shows we have witnessed...but it would be great to hear Avalanche. There is always Vegas.......

I think I must set right that I am not "anniesnake". I do not even know her. But I sent her a message that I linked her videos in this community and I wrote her how pleased you are. :)
