Ahhh, September! A time of of clearing away the old to make room for the new.

Oh, Mary, I don't know how you could resist! "September"!Mollydog wrote:I've been fighting the urge to get another dog since my sweet girl Molly died in the Spring. I've always said that I would adopt a senior dog and when casually browsing today I came across an adorable mutt called.........September!! Is it a sign? Even the descrption seems appropriate. "A sweet old soul looking for love and companionship. September has a sense of humour and is described as a "real character." " I'm trying hard to resist!!

Amazing moment: I was with a friend and her baby, Leo, at a choral concert in a cathedral last night. 7-month-old Leo was there because his daddy was singing. About an hour in, Leo began to fuss. Our escape route, planned earlier, had closed off as the cathedral filled up. Leo's mother had run out of quietly-amusing toys and games. Even the breast wasn't soothing him. So far, he had only gotten to the point of soft whimpering, but he was ramping up. At an exquisitely quiet point in the performance, with the audience rapt, he clenched his fists, scrunched up his shoulders and opened his mouth, about to wail. I started rummaging through my shoulderbag for something magical. I hauled out Tim Footman's new biography and showed Leo the cover: his eyes widened, his hands opened, and he looked from Leonard's face to mine, with an expression of wonder and gratitude, as if to say: "How did you know I needed to gaze upon that face?" Disaster averted, the choir broke the silence with "Hallelujah!" (not the "real" version, but some ditty by a guy called Handel)
Leo and I spent the whole Hallelujah chorus happily leafing through Footman's photo section and we all made it safely to intermission.
It is BV, that threw me at first too - they called it Pirate Radio in the US for some reason.burningviolin wrote:sturgess66 wrote:Going to see the movie "Pirate Radio" today and being delighted to hear Leonard Cohen sing "So Long Marianne."![]()
