A section for new songs?

Post by FOXWOOD »

Last night at Dublin there was a new song "I've got a little Secret".
Albert recorded a great video of it.
However unless you had read all the concert reports you could have missed it.
Is it worth having a section with links to any new songs , eg. la Manic , Born in Chains or others that appeared in sound checks etc?

Sounds like a good idea. We could move the section from one leg to the next as the tour progresses. What do others think?

I have collected some of the new songs introduced during the tour here, to get our collection started:

That's a good idea.

May I expand it and suggest a New Songs & Rarities section?
It's a questionable idea, I know.

But what about A Street (Toronto 2006), Book of Longing / Puppets (radio 2005), various A Thousand Kisses Deep recitations (1990s, 2005)? Where is the borderline between old and new (Taken Out of Egypt 1985 -> I Can't Forget 1988 -> Born in Chains 2010), between a poem and a song (A Street, A Thousand Kisses Deep)?

I guess we should talk rather about well-known and little-known Cohen.
Well-known = officially released (it may be the least popular track from DOALM or Dear Heather, doesn't matter - it got a chance to be heard).
Little-known = unreleased (thanks to bootlegers, and Greg and DrHGuy as the main popularizers many Cohenites know these songs; but nevertheless it's - I have to say, although I'd like to be wrong - a drop in a sea).

There are several subjects that lay somewhere between the existing Forum sections (Comments & Questions; Leonard Cohen's music; Live performances & YouTube clips; Leonard Cohen's poetry and novels; all the 20XX Concert Reports sections):

- 1970s improvisations
- poetry recitations, including
- 1976 poetry sets
- LenTalk: there are some brilliant prose fragments

Those subjects could enrich our understanding of LC.

OK, I don't want to pretend that the absence of this section is the reason why we rarely share and discuss such pearls from the past. Probably, it would be another almost empty section (Time Traveling Pack).
Anyway, some of my Comments & Questions are related to a field of Leonard Cohen music, poetry and live performances at the same time. Let's call it Cohen in Concert or Rare Cohen or however you like ;-)

I think the expansion would be good.

Did you mean thanks to Albert and DrHGuy, Goldin?
Am I missing the ones Greg [from Australia?] has recorded?
Or is it a different Greg?
Albert captures A LOT of excellent, high quality videos for us.

Thanks!

Great idea, too... I was glad to see this section appear. Hadn't seen this thread until now.
