“What the head brands as shameful may appear as sheer beauty to the heart.”
This song is written as a response to L. Cohen in his song "Famous Blue Raincoat," from the perspective of his wife Jane's illicit lover. See below for lyrics, and take a listen to Leonard Cohen's song if you haven't.

LYRICS:
Jane came by, wearing that dress and her intentions.
Her eyes spoke trouble first, but mine were weak to their suggestions.

My friend - I'm sorry I'm a thief.
When I saw her on the roof, I knew my sword would not be sheathed,
And here we are - the culprit and the casualty, the fox and his enemy.

And Jane she came with a lock of her hair.
She told me to keep it for her.
She promised me you wouldn't care,
So I gave her mine.

Her eyes claimed fragile truths, but within her noose they were hanging.
Jane and I we built our lies, and the vagrant died in that building.

My friend - I know I'm on the edge.
But when I saw her on the roof, I knew I'd build it 'til the end,
And now we're done - a lover and his victim, sore from wrecked conviction.

Oh and Jane came by with a lock of her hair.
She told me to keep it for her.
She promised me you wouldn't care,
So I gave her mine.

Oh and Jane she told me she'd always be mine,
That this was a victimless crime,
But her secrets stayed hidden in mine.

Oh Jane, oh Jane.

Dear L.,
It took me some years to respond,
But the coward is finally gone.
I hope you and Jane have moved on,
And I'm sorry.

Sincerely,
Your Gyspy Thief
Henry
