One of my favorite singers, Yasmin Levy - who is reviving ancient Jewish LADINO music - has recorded a version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah.
It is idiosyncratic and is as mesmerizing as it is beautiful.
If anything, it is a tribute to Leonard Cohen to his unique poetic style.
I leave you a sample here.

If I may be so humble to provide this as a belated birthday gift to the most important and influential musician of our time.
May it be his will to provide you with a long life and health.
Too all of you - my warmest regards.

Hi jenrbr,
I've seen Yasmin Levi last October at the Brotfabrik in Frankfurt.
It was a great show and yes she sang Hallelujah. It was so beautiful. Thanks to Henning!

Thanks very much for these links, Jen. I'd never heard of her. This is one of the many benefits of visiting this forum. Already a favourite arrangement, right next to Jeff Buckley's rendition. A gift to us all.
Much obliged.

We saw Yasmin a couple of days ago at the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow. Everything about the concert - including her version of Hallelujah - was absolutely stunning and Yasmin herself was totally charming. Hallelujah features on her latest CD, Sentir which is highly recommended.

Thank you jen,
I have been looking at Yasmins songs on youtube. I had never heard of her before but will be looking out for her in the future. She has a wonderful voice. It is great to be introduced to new talent (to you) on the Forum. I will be looking for her cd with Halleluyah on it. She is very talented.

Re: Yasmin Levy sings Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah
Many thanks for the link to the Strand programme. I would never have found it on my own. I have, of course, heard Yasmin talking about her music before but it was interesting to hear her comment on why she recorded Hallelujah. I could listen all day to Yasmin talking about her music and her father but if you just want to focus specifically on the Hallelujah discussion, this starts at c. 06.00.
BTW we travelled down to London to see Yasmin perform at the Barbican last week. She is expecting her first child in July so it might be a while before she gets back to the UK again and we didn't want to pass up the opportunity to see her again while we could. Needless to say the show was as magical as the Celtic Connections concert we went to in January.
