Meet up New York December 18th

Hello everybody,
I'm writing here for the first time and I'm pleased to see, that there are so many L.C. fans
from all over the world!
Having missed the European tour, I recently decided to travel from Germany to New York to watch him at the Garden in December!
Sounds crazy, but I did it, got a ticket, booked a flight and a place to stay - and now I'm very exited!!

As I shall be traveling alone, I would appreciate to meet other fans before or after the show.
It would be a little bit sad, not being able to share the impressions and the joy!
So, would you please let me know, if there will be a meet up in New York on December 18th - I shall be there!
Thanks,
Renate

Hi,
its me again!
maybe I'm a bit too early,
maybe I'm a bit too nervous,
maybe people in New York are still suffering from Sandy
and maybe I should try to introduce myself:

The concert at the MSG in December will be a Christmas present from my husband,
who will not be able to accompany me, unfortunately,
so I shall be traveling alone to New York,
for the first time in my 50 years on earth!
" Still crazy, after all these years " :))

I'm not looking for a date or something,
I would just appreciate to meet some gentle people who love Leonard Cohen as
much as I do!
Actually, I'm a friendly and open minded nurse from the middle of Germany,
have two grown up daughters (who do not think I'm crazy!)'
love to speak English, the poems and the music of Leonard Cohen, which have always
been an important part of my life!

On December 16th, I shall arrive to New York,
curiously walking the city and looking forward to the concert!!!

So, again, I would really be pleased to meet up on the 18th!

Hi Renate,

Congratulations on your first trip alone to New York - it's wonderful that you are making the trip & you are very brave! And definitely not alone in your craziness (if that's what it is) - many of us have travelled far & wide to see Leonard Cohen. . .so, welcome to the crazy club!

I am going to the concert at MSG & would love to meetup with you & anyone else who will be there. It's safer for me to plan to go to a meetup before the concert, because we will be travelling back to Connecticut that night, & will probably have to head out right after the concert.

Don't worry, there are many places we could meet up, & I'm sure we will find a place as we get closer to that date; & I think there will be others who will want to join us.

Some of us are just now working on finding a place to meetup in Montreal, Quebec & Boston, so let's touch bases again in the near future, & we will make some plans. I look forward to meeting you!

Hi Rachel,

thank you so much for your very kind reply!
As I'm not used to writing in forums, it feels a bit stupid,
when nobody seems to be interested in what you have written!

I'm looking forward to seeing you - and anybody else !
Wow!
Now I can go to bed patiently and see what is going to happen!

Let's keep in touch and: Have fun in Boston, you lucky one!

Hi Renate and Rachel,
Renate, sorry for the delay in replying. It's been a crazy week here, and I just couldn't get to thinking about December. I will be going to both NYC shows. It would be great to meet up before the show: afterwards won't be possible for me. Rachel, it'll be great to see you again: we met at Adam's show downtown some months ago.
We can figure out a time and place closer to the time.

Hi Sue,

Yes, I remember the pleasure of meeting you at Adam's show! Happy to hear you will be coming to both NYC concerts - me too! And yes, we can touch bases again soon, & work together on finding a good meetup place in NYC. I look forward to seeing you again too!

Hi Renate,

The forum was new to everyone at some point, & I think many people have felt the way you felt, & sometimes still do (at least, I know I do. . .)! But you can be certain that we are interested in whatever you have to say; sometimes it just takes a little while for people to respond. Glad you were able to go to bed happy & patient! We will talk soon. . .

Hi Rachel and Sue,

first of all let me thank you for the overwhelming warmth I can feel in your words,
I admit, I had some tears in my eyes!

It is fantastic that people can communicate all over the world,
wish I would have had that opportunity in the 1970th, when I started listening to Leonard Cohen!

In fact, it was he, who is guilty of my affection for the English language.
I always had a big dictionary at hand, trying to translate.
Well, those were the days...

But even nowadays, my husband and I are still enjoying his music!
And I can tell you, even if you don't understand everything - like my husband, who originally
came from Poland, where they were taught Russian in those days,
the music and the lyrics are going straight to our hearts!

So now I feel very privileged having the opportunity to travel to New York,
though it almost feels a little decadent, regarding the problems you may have over there now.
I am looking forward to our meeting and wish you all the best!

By the way,
do you know, if cameras will be allowed
and do you think, it will be possible to get an autograph?

Renate - first of all you are among people who ABSOLUTELY understand that someone would fly to NY from Germany just to see him. No kidding! Second, I am very inspired about how his work stimulated your language acquisition - I'm serving in the Peace Corps in Armenia and languages are not my strong suit. I've heard there are amazing Armenian poets, so I am going to start focusing on finding one I can "follow" like you have followed Leonard lo these many long years.
Maybe we'll meet at a concert in Europe - I've got my eye on the announcements for 2013!

Hi Deborah,

if that's your name,
thanks for your comment, and yes, it feels good, not to be alone.
And I'm also sure, that this is not going to be my last concert!
Good luck with your work in Armenia!

Dear Nanila, you have to be very, very lucky here in the States, it is not that easy over here, I was lucky.

Dear regensburg,

In fact I feel very happy, exited and thankful, being able to go to NC,
but I don't quite understand what you mean by "it is not that easy over here" ?

My husband and I will also be attending the MSG concert on December 18. I'd love to meet up with you all. If no ene else has done it, I can try to figure out an easy place near MSG to meet. And Renate, you are very brave. I'm accustomed to New York, but I don't know if I could fly alone to Germany! I am flying alone to Detroit next week to see LC. My husband can't make it so I have a great ticket to sell!

Thank you, angel of compassion, that would be great! Also, I am seeing my brother today, & I think he knows the MSG area very well, & I will ask him if he knows of a good place for us to meet up. So then we can compare notes. . .
