Leeds 19th May 1970
Re: Leeds 19th May 1970
Thank you Denis,
I don't often venture into this section of the forum because I think I have most of Leonards's photos, videos and songs. I was wrong - this is wonderful - I can't believe it has stayed hidden (to me) until now

It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to B4real ~ me

Re: Leeds 19th May 1970 - date correction
After much digging around I can confirm this concert was actually on Saturday 16th May 1970, not the 19th. All Leeds gigs used to be on a Saturday night and the day is confirmed by a Daily Telegraph article early the following week.

It might be interesting to know that the full concert, including the 'missing' Please Don't Pass Me By,
recently (2 days ago) has been uploaded on dime.

Has anyone downloaded the Dime version and compared the two? I got the impression from the uploader's description that they were both from the same source.Inne wrote:It might be interesting to know that the full concert, including the 'missing' Please Don't Pass Me By,

Wendy,
I *think* both versions come from the same original source but the one presented here on the forum is in better quality, which I find quite surprising knowing Banalny's reputation regarding Leonard Cohen recordings...
Anyone else who agrees/disagrees on this?

Re: Leeds 19th May 1970
banalny has now confirmed that the version on Dime is the same as the one Denis shared here by adding the following comment:
"The taper shared untracked mp3 files of this recording via leonardcohenforum.com some time ago. Anyway, this is a new find by all means."
I can't comment on the quality of the MP3 vs the Dime files as I didn't bother to download this one. hippy1948 describes the Dime version as a "cleaner copy" so I'm heartened by your comments Maarten.

Absolutely brilliant. I was there we came over from bradford unversity for the concert. I listened to him ever since my kids grew up listening to his songs. I was sixty last week and for my birthday they bought me tickets for leonard in dortmund flights and a hotel in germany The present brought tears to my eyes. All the effort to bring them up was worth it.

Hello David,
It is such a joy when your children are so in tune with you that they have presented you with the perfect gift. If this is the first LC concert you will be attending since Leeds (and even if it isn't) it would be lovely if you would post a review here of the Dortmund concert. I will be looking forward to it. Welcome to the forum!
Best regards,
Mary

Re: Leeds 19th May 1970 - review
Sorting through some old files, I came across a review of this concert published in June 1970 in the Leeds University Union News.
