Beautiful photos... more than one might imagine in a college town. History and style.
I look forward to seeing it this summer.
Thanks for posting these, Ken.

Dear Ken,
Thank you for posting these great photos. Anne & I are probably in the photo that you posted for the "Jazz at Five" event. We go each year and since I'm on the board of the Madison Events committee, we are fortunate to have a table near the stage.

I love the photo of the Goodman Pool and each year when they close it, they have a "Dog Wash" day when you can take your dog to the pool. We haven't taken Zena yet-who is not really fond of getting dunked-but we will do it one of these years.

We are in the process of re-imagining the event as a sort of Leonard Cohen Long Talking Weekend. More news to follow.

Warm regards from a chilly Wisconsin-the day after our first snow (Zena loves it!),

Joe

Thanks for all these great images Ken. There is obviously a lot to do and see around Madison. It will be such a great shame if the Event has to be cancelled, not just because of all the hard work that Joe and Anne (and others) have put in to this but because we will be missing so much if it doesn't go ahead. Alas, I am not sure I can justify the cost of travel etc if events have to be scaled right back. We'll see and I'll keep my fingers crossed that things will still work out.

The Co-op, the Airplane house by Wright, the museum, the house of chimneys... incredible!
I'll be there no matter what.

Dear friends, I probably gave the wrong impression about how the event may be changed. We may be relying on more local musicians (and our own forum members) for concerts. Otherwise, it will be an "Event" in the full sense of the word. We have some excellent local musicians (and forum members) and I'll post more later about what our thoughts would be.

Ken, thanks again for the terrific images.

joe ...i'm scanning the photos from zane william's beautiful book on madison that you kindly gave me a few years ago....

...i for one am not unduly concerned about whether or not we have 'big name' artists for the event...that's not the reason i attend events...it's for the good times we always have meeting up with old friends and hopefully meeting new ones is the reason i attend.....local artists and our very own 'in house' talent sound excellent to me......maybe at long last madison will be the place where henning will answer our request for his version of 'a kite is a victim'...

....and thanks again for all the hard work you anne and your committee are putting in for us all...we will all have a great time and that's for sure...

..and of course another reason why so many of us are travelling great distances to be in madison is shown in the photo below (salzburg in case you have forgotten)....ta ken
