BoyFriend 0.1

Post by Tchocolatl »

Very entertaining stuff Paula, :) here is the BoyFriend 0.1 version :

Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0
to Husband 1.0 and noticed a slowdown
in over-all performance, particularly in
the flowers and jewelry application
that had operated flawlessly under Boyfriend
5.0. In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled
many other valuable programs,
such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention
6.5, but installed undesirable programs
such as NFL 5.0 and NBA 3.0.
And now Conversation 1.5 no longer runs
and House Cleaning 2.6 simply crashes
the system. I've tried running Nagging
5.3 to fix these problems but to no avail.
What can I do?

Signed,

Desperate

(And the reply...)

Dear Desperate:

First keep in mind that Boyfriend 5.0 is
an entertainment package while Husband
1.0 is an operating system. Try entering
the command C:\THOUGHT YOU
LOVED ME and download Tears 6.2 to
install Guilt 3.0. If all works as designed,
Husband 1.0 should then automatically
run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and
Flowers 3.5. But remember, overuse can
cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy
Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0, or Beer 6.1.
Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will
create Snoring loudly.wav files. Whatever
you do, DO NOT install Mother-inlaw
1.0 or reinstall another Boyfriend
program. These are not supported applications
and will crash Husband 1.0.
In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great
program, but it does have a limited memory
and cannot learn new applications
quickly. You might consider additional
software to improve memory and performance.
I personally recommend Hot
Food 3.0 and Lingerie 5.2.

Good Luck,

Tech Support

'What's in a name?'

All those punny examples of people's names reflecting (in sometimes hilarious ways) their occupations/professions is what Carl Jung called the "compulsion of the name". It really can play a significant psychological role in some people's life choices. A couple more that came to mind, all true, are:
Dr Ovary: gynaecologist
Mr Lamb: butcher (flip-side of Margaret's 'Dr Butcher: surgeon' )

Jung's name (young) also reflected his lifetime work in, and study of, the transformative processes (Individuation) leading to "re-birth" of the psyche. Bit of a 'chicken & egg' thing though; i.e. is the name 'meant to be' by destiny, or unconsciously influence the choices? Maybe a combination - as a reinforcement.
And, as I've noted before, Cohen means 'seer'. Fascinating stuff, don't ya think?

Yes, I really do think there's something to it, Makera. Never read Jung [other than bits and pieces of excerpts, excerpts being longer than what I've seen], but I agree on whichever it is ~ the chicken or the egg. It's more than mere coincidence, and I do think it's fascinating.

That's an interesting phenomenon - however, it must also work in a paradoxical way: I'm recalling that up until recently there was a well known Roman Catholic dignitary in the Philippines by the name of Cardinal Sin!

Cheers :)

Oh yes, Andrew (D), I remember that one too.
(Wonder what it meant in his own language.) One could also look at it as being something he was 'destined' to try to solve too, I suppose.

Lizzy~ Yep, more than 'coincidence', for sure.
And, thanks for alerting me (unconsciously perhaps? ) to the fact that I had been misspelling 'excerpt', when I posted excerpts before   .

No alert intended, Makera  ~ where and how did you misspell it? I probably noticed it at the time [as I tend to do], but typos/misspellings are never as important as the message. The message is remembered long after the spelling is forgotten ~ that's a take-off on a business card I saw once and have found oh-too-true......"Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten."

Hi Liz  ...I just wanted to acknowledge you as my 'unconscious spellchecker' 8) When you used the word twice, I noticed... 'O, oh, that looks different'...Yep, wherever I wrote 'here's an excerpt' it came out 'exerpt'! The reminder was the Jung excerpt I posted on Synchronicity...for starters. Appreciate the compliment too. :D
