Eija and I checked the location of Salzburgarena today. You may walk from the main railway station (Hauptbanhof) or Hotel Der Salzburger Hof (where many members stay) to the Arena in 30 minutes. Easiest is to take bus # 1 (stops around the city including the railway station), direction: Messezenter. Arena is the last stop. Driving time from railway station 10 min max. Tickets 1.90 eur (day ticket 4.20 eur).

We also tried to find a nice place to have beers after the concert, but this was difficult. The only option near the Arena is the Arena City Hotel (only 90 seconds walk), but they closet at midnight. The only other alternative (if we don't want to go all the way down to the old town) is a little bar half way back to the hotel (open until 1 am). Unfortunately It was not open when we passed it, so I can't say how good or bad it is.

Tony and I checked out the driving route to the arena last night. For those who do not know the town of Salzburg, by far the easiest route is via the A1 motorway. Take the Messe exit (291 I think) and you arrive right by the entrance to the arena and the arena car parks. The approach from the town is rather more complicated and less convenient.

I wonder if this Cafe is owned by an ex-pat Canadian hockey fan. I got quite a kick out of this photo on Joey's tumblr blog. http://leonardcohen.tumblr.com/
According to the Henri Henri hat store in Montreal, before 1967 when there were only the Original Six teams in the NHL, the store rewarded players who had scored three goals or more in one game at the Montreal Forum with a free hat, which brought the "Hat Trick" expression into the world of hockey. The list of winners includes the legendary players such as Stan Mikita and Bobby Hull from the Chicago Black Hawks, Maurice Richard and Elmer Lach from the home-town Montreal Canadiens, Norm Ullman from the Detroit Red Wings, and many others

Intermission and the band hurriedly preps for the second set. The brand new tune Born In Chains made it’s debut in the first set and something tells me we could see more new songs tonight.

Sharon Robinson, Hattie and Charley Webb pause for a photo on the way to the stage for Tower of Song an the rest of the second set.

The band is back for an encore and almost on cue the audience has rushed to the front of the stage and cinematographer Nick Amato is in just the right spot to capture the excitement.

I'm still speechless! Excellent show! Two new songs - Born in Chains and Feels so Good (with new lyrics). Did someone record them?

Of course it is very different when there is a new song which we all want to hear, but why should it be "bizarre" that there is no video from a show?? I find it totally bizarre that thanks to YouTube, Twitter and the like, each show seems to be fully reported and reviewed by people 1,000s of miles before it is even over!! I very rarely watch the video clips on YouTube in any circumstances, though I confess, curiosity would always get the better of me where there is a new song involved! Am I the only one who feels like this??

if i was going to one of the new shows i would try to resist seeing the new song on youtube as i would want that freshness at the gig itself...but as i am not going to any of the new shows i don't think my willpower will stand up to it and i will be listening ASAP

Just wondering is it ok to take an entry level DSLR camera with standard zoom lens to the show? Was there any people in audience with such cameras or only prosumer and point and shoot ones?
