Dear Heather

Post by Jeffs98119 »

So, is this really the title of a new album? Any word from NY on when it will be released?

Yes, it is the name of Leonard's new album ~ with what I'd call a line drawing of 'her' face. It's supposed to come out in the Fall.

Is this a "real" Heather? If it is I feel sorry for her.

Anytime Leonard dedicates or writes songs about a woman it is the kiss of death.
It is O-V-E-R.

Peter, go to the New York 2004 section on this forum
and check the "The New York Event in our memories"
section for some info about the forthcoming album!

The songs we heard at the convention from the album are really good! There is definitely some dry humor on this album...

Yeah a new album....I'm really really happy.
But I hope it is a guitar driven album as it was promised.
And I hope too that most of the text are written by Leonard (I heard abour Scott and other poets)
One for the money
Two for the show
Three to get ready
Go man go
I said tell me Mr. Siegal
How do I get out of here

From what we heard of the album it is not guitar driven but there is much more guitar in it than TNS which only had a bit of guitar on "In My Secret Life." Overall, the album seems to have more life and variety than TNS but that is no knock on TNS of course.

On the "Dear Heather" page, I noticed that the song list will include a 'live' version of "Tennessee Waltz". I heard Leonard do this in 1985 in Sydney, Australia. It was an amazing rendition of this song, & I always wondered why he had never included it on any of his albums.
I am looking forward to hearing this again, after nearly 20 years.

some tracks are synthetizer generated while the others have been
made with some live musicians (you will see very familiar names)
Leonard said that everything else has been used except
kitchen sinks.

This time Anjani Thomas has participated in the majority
of the songs (and is singing on the tracks), about eight if
I remember correctly. Sharon Robinson is credited for
about three (I'm at a summer cottage in the middle of
nowhere in Central Finland and have no access to my
archive - that's why I have to be so inaccurate). There
is MUCH more variation in the songs than on TNS.

She is only on some tracks; Anjani Thomas is on several,
and a coupple of tracks have been made by Leonard alone.
