This is how Leonard said thank you to the audience in Dublin, for singing in the pouring rain the chorus to 'So long Marianne' .

This is also how I thanked him at the Prince Edward concert for taking effort and touring again, on the card attached to the bouquet of roses : 'thank you for being Leonard Cohen' :D

Le Journal de Montreal, June 24th 2008 by Philippe Rezzonico

Retour triomphal de l'enfant prodige
Triumphant return of the prodigal son

L'évenément avait toutes les allures d'une messe sacrée collective
The event had the feel of a sacred communal mass

If anyone can come up with a more accurate translation, feel free to correct me.

“Das ist ein als Konzert getarnter Dankgottesdienst.”

“This is a religious service camouflaged as a concert”.

Wilfred Langmaid of The Daily Gleaner in Fredericton, NB, Canada (the first concert of the tour), May 16/08:

"It was one of those electric evenings that will be etched in my mind forever. Put it this way: When my time on this mortal coil nears to a close and, if by grace, some pivotal life moments are allowed to rattle back into my mind, this night will be one of them."

Der späte Cohen ist ein Zauberkünstler alter Schule.
In his late days, Cohen is a vintage magician.

(Thomas Gross, Die Zeit, October 9th, 2008)

Ein Verführer und Gentleman
A Seducer and a Gentleman

(Heinrich Oehmsen, Hamburger Abendblatt, November 1st, 2008)

Niemand hat gesagt, dass Glück lustig ist.
Nobody claimed that bliss would be funny.

Schön wär's, sagt meine Begleiterin, als Cohen "I'm Your Man" anstimmt.
"If only", my companion says, as Cohen embarks upon "I'm Your Man". 8)
