Dear Leslie,

I've got Jackson, Rufus, and Nick on my list.

Martha is touring in Canada but she is free on the date of the concert :D

Glen has a gig in Germany...

Anyone else you can think of?

Mary

I'm not sure if just anyone is invited to answer this but, I would really like to see Antony sing If It Be Your Will at the tribute. Otherwise, just any single voice singing any single song from the heart would be great.

I don't have any doubt that every song will be sung from the heart. I have been to a lot of these sort of shows over the years at the Celtic Connections festival as one dearly departed Scottish music icon after another has been honoured. They have all been intensely emotional occasions and I have been moved even where I have not really known the work of the artist being honoured.

I think the tribute in November will be tough for all of us here but I think it will also be incredibly uplifting in honour of the man we all love.

Performers at Tower of Song: Memorial Tribute to Leonard Cohen, Montreal

I am wondering when news of other performers might trickle out.

I am hoping that Peter Gabriel will show up. One would think that Rufus Wainwright will be there--he's Leonard's grandchild's father, after all..

And of course we all want to see Sharon Robinson and all of Leonard's band. Perhaps David Lynch will play the sax for us?

Does anyone have any leads, hunches, wishes, aspirations--or even rumors--to share?

*Edited to swap out Nick Cave for Peter Gabriel. However, even though Gabriel is a huge L.C. fan (I read about Gabriel once getting Leonard to sign an album for him), it is very rare for him to perform unless he is on tour--he even skipped his own Rock Hall induction.

Nick Cave does a gig in Italy on the same day.

Okay, I switched out Nick Cave for Tom Waits, even though he is not touring this year.

I'd love to see Judy Collins delivering a tune or two. Alas, she's performing the night before in Santa Rosa California, so it doesn't look like a possibility.

But...she doesn't have another gig until the 16th. Hard, yes, possible, yes.

I did my own homework and found Buffy is alive and still performing around Canada.
She did a great version of God is Alive.
I do hope she was asked to join the event.

It sure would be cool to see Marianne Faithfull sing Going Home. She covered that masterfully on her most recent album.
