1960's acquaintance of Leonard interviewed

Postby Andrew (Darby) » Sun Sep 20, 2015 4:49 pm

The link below is to a Radio National interview of one of our ABC Radio broadcasters, Julie Copeland, who back in the late 1960’s knew Leonard and who furthermore was a very good friend of Aviva Cantor (a partner of Irving Layton). You can hear what she says about Leonard and Hydra etc. at about the 4 minute mark. The rest of this audio interview deals with the Greek refugee issue, which she has devoted considerable energy and time to.

In fact she is currently on the Greek island of Lesbos working with refugees there and has had a lengthy acquaintance with that island (and Greece more generally). I think most folk here would find what she says about refugees and Lesbos very interesting as well. She clearly has a real love for Greece and comments on the awful impact of the Greek financial crisis. Her heart not only goes out to the refugees, but she clearly has a good understanding of Greece’s predicament in that regard. 8)
