Does this mean "I'm Your Man" and "The Future" didn't even make the charts?

I am flabbergasted that neither IYM nor TF made the charts. We sold the heck out of IYM after 'Pump Up the Volume' came out and we would steer customers to the original performer of 'Everybody Knows' and then after 'Natural Born Killers', again there was great interest and then purchases of 'The Future' by a whole new generation. Then again, Billboard 200 top albums are for new releases only (I think, except H with LC's original made the chart when that girl from the British version(original) of American Idol was released over the holiday's (apologize for not remembering names - I plead old age)) and these delayed purchases would not have been enough to make the chart.
Edit - Wow, sorry for rambling!

We will know next Thursday where Old Ideas debuted on the Billboard 200 Albums chart in the U.S. I wonder when Leonard will finally get a Top 40 album in the U.S. Maybe Old Ideas will be the one to do it.

Top 10 on the billboard charts appears a certainty - the article below predicts #7, but their sources do not appear to take Amazon and iTunes into account. Leonard has been #1 on Amazon most of the week.

#1 at Amazon
Roman aka Hermitage Prisoner

Great news to hear that Old Ideas is getting a lot of recognition. :D
I was in Newbury Comics which is the only record store in my area today, and the clerk said they had been playing it all day :D

Lana Del Rey & Leonard Cohen: Billboard Top 10 Bound

http://www.billboard.com/news/lana-del- ... 7352.story

Lana Del Rey's major label full-length debut album, "Born to Die," is off to a fast start. Industry sources say that the set may sell between 60,000 to 70,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, Feb. 5. That should easily give the album at No. 2 debut on the Billboard 200 chart next week.

So it's no surprise to see Del Rey is sitting at No. 2 on Nielsen SoundScan's Building chart (below). The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (ending Sunday, Feb. 5) as reported by six major merchants.

Lana Del Rey: The Billboard Cover Story

Veteran singer/songwriter Leonard Cohen could capture his first top 10 album ever as "Old Ideas" may also arrive in the top 10 on the Billboard 200. (On the Building list, it is No. 7.) Sources say that the set may sell around 40,000. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has never been higher than No. 63, when 1969's "Songs From a Room" reached its peak.

As for No. 1 on the Billboard 200 next week? Expect Adele's "21" to notch a 19th frame atop the list.

Nielsen SoundScan Building Chart
Rank LW
BB 200 Artist Title
1 1 Adele "21"
2 NEW Lana Del Rey "Born To Die"
3 4 Various Artists "2012 Grammy Nominees"
4 2 Tim McGraw "Emotional Traffic"
5 9 Drake "Take Care"
6 6 Kidz Bop Kids "Kidz Bop 21"
7 NEW Leonard Cohen "Old Ideas"
8 8 Seal "Soul 2"
9 16 Rihanna "Talk That Talk"
10 NEW Fred Hammond "God, Love & Romance"

The Building Chart reflects the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (which ends Sunday) as reported by six major merchants: iTunes, Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Starbucks, Target and Anderson Merchandisers. Billboard estimates that they make up about 85% of all U.S. album sales.

Does anyone know if Billboard takes Amazon sales into account? L.C. has been #1 on Amazon all week, and with so many record stores now closed down it seems that you cannot get a true count without using mail order sources.

When you gave the links, that is what I thought, but I was leaving the final confirmation to you and WHOWHOOOOOOOO! :D :D :D :D :D :D Sadly, because of this position in the charts, I don't see where Sony can do anything further to get it any higher.

It's all still part of the 'politics' of the record industry. Years ago, I remember when the Capitol rep came to us in our record stores asking how the new Bonnie Raitt (Nick of Time) was doing. They did everything in their power to push this piece of product to #1, and if I remember correctly, it made it. But, I gotta tell ya, was it #1 with us? Close, but not completely. We believed in the product and helped to make it #1 at our by giving this a grand push.

Hopefully, Sony can do more with promotion at their end to give this the shove it needs. But, hey, #3 is PHENOMENAL!! in light of all the music that comes out in any given month.

Roy - thank you for keeping us updated!!!

Warmest regards,
Mary
