I'm copying Gina here:

Dear all

I would also like to see Leonard’s own version of Hallelujah go up the charts, if only for the novelty of seeing him have a top 40 hit.

There are two places you can download his version from, where it counts towards the official UK chart. These are:

Play.com (65p) : http://www.play.com/Music/MP3-Download- ... id=6760034

HMV.co.uk : (69p) http://hmv.com/hmvweb/digitalProductDet ... Id=3007434

On the HMV one, scroll down and buy the individual track. I believe HMV will ask you to download their software too, so Play.com is far better (in my opinion). In fact, their top 100 downloads currently has FOUR incidences of Hallelujah!

No.1 (Alexandra Burke)
No.3 (Jeff Buckley)
No.44 (Jeff Buckley album version)
No.63 (Leonard’s)

Happy downloading,

Gina

I am assuming that even though there are two versions of Leonard's Hallelujah one from Essential and one from MoJo they will both be counted as just the one version for the benefit of the charts and the same with the Jeff Buckley one.

I have bought one of each (Leonard) so I hope I have not wasted my £1.38 I could have bought a chicken bake from Greggs.

If you are buying the X-factor single by Alexandra for your Cohen collection could you ensure you buy it after they have collated the Christmas number 1 figures to give Leonard and Jeff a fighting chance against the machine that is the X-Factor.

According to http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=66500765224 just now:

Jeff Buckley has moved ahead of Leona Lewis, into 2nd place.

Interesting times...

There was a time when we LC fans seemed all on our own, in our bedsits etc :-)

Leonard's original is no.34 on Itunes chart. I bought his again and Buckley's - bit of fun :)
London 02 July '08, Big Chill Festival August '08 - an amazing day as I was privileged to meet Leonard backstage, I'll never forget that day!
London O2 Nov '08, Royal Albert Hall Nov' 08
Weybridge July '09 & now next year - Mar '10 Grenoble :) :)

Hi,
Been a while since I posted here, but have just downloaded both Leonard's and Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah, every little will help improve chances of getting them higher in the "charts". Important to some, but will be good to see it happen. Someone please let us know when the places are final, I wouldn't know where to go to find out, shame isn't it,
Regards Maureen

Just watched a long item about the song on the Channel 4 news, which had clips of Leonard from Songs from the Key of Life and reading poetry, plus clips of Jeff Buckley and Alexandra and interviews with a 94-year old fan who'd been at the RAH show, a radio DJ and a pundit who illustrated the minor fall and the major lift etc on his piano.

The world's gone made - and I love it!!

Those who wish to view this piece (about 5 mins 20 seconds), can do so at:

http://www.channel4.com/news/

Click on "7 day catch up", then today's news... and it's part 5. Not sure if this is UK only.

Thanks for the link. Extraordinary: Leonard Cohen for three spots in the charts for Christmas including number one, plus he makes it onto the national news. A fitting end to an amazing year. Merry Christmas everyone!
