daveeliver - Thanks for the Liverpool Scene clip. I believe that I saw them live at an open-air festival at least once, but don'yt remember much about it.

I'm not sure if this has been posted before,it's Rod Stewart's first solo single in 1964,"Good Morning Little Schoolgirl".

When Nico was still Christa Päffgen she worked awhile with Serge Gainsbourg. Their collaborate stayed short because Gainsbourg was unfamiliar with her voice. I`ve been toying with a theory that`s the reason why Nico rejected our Leonard later, maybe she found his outfit and songwriting skills reminded her too much of the cruel Gainsbourg.

Thanks Spice-Box,
Beautiful! I didn't know about this earlier incarnation of Nico, even though I posted "I'm Not Saying" elsewhere on this board. I saw Nico live three times - once at The John Peel Show, once with Mike Heron's Reputation at the Imperial College, and once at The Rainbow Theatre with John Cale, Kevin Ayers & Eno.
All good things, John E

Tony - Thanks for the link to the Walker Brothers video, which I hadn't seen. I actually heard the Walkers version of "Love Minus Zero" before Dylan's, when my sister bought the "Take it Easy" album in 1966. I think Scott sings the song admirably, and the country-style guitar gives it a nice touch. Pity that only selected verses are included, but I guess it followed the format of the Byrds "Mr. Tambourine Man".
All the best, John E

Re: Songs that may be forgotten, or many people have never heard
I just saw on spicebox78s post that someone has recently started a blog called "499 Songs You Never Heard". The guy who started the blog includes "The Messiah Will Come Again" from Roy Buchanan's first album, and that's reminded me of another song I like from the same album! Here it is:

This is a website of young American singer-songwriter Holcombe Waller, who sings like an angel and writes amazing lyrics. He is far too ill-known, he deserves more! Please try the first song in the list, "Risk of Change" - painfully beautiful song. You can hear the influence of Cohen and Simon & Garfunkel. I've listened his music (almost) more than Cohen's and Dylan's this month, and I say, that's a lot!
Little example from "Risk of Change":
I think I'll sleep alone tonight
Cuz babe we both know I could never love you right
The house all trashed, the wine uncorked
Maybe I should call you when I get back from New York
You've got your barbs, you've got your stones
Pool them in your pockets with the ox meat and the bones
I've got my bags, I'm on my way
Cruising like a bandit 'neath the dark Northwestern day
I don't know much, but I know you
You are the kind of magic always breaks my heart in two
I've got my wings, I'm on my way

Hi Elainduel,
I've just listened to that first track, and I like it...very Paul Simonish (with shades of "The Boxer" and "Duncan"). Nice string arrangement, too!

Hi, guys, thanks for listening! I'm real happy that you liked it!
Tried to listen to this one (Buchanan is wonderful!), but the video only works in USA...John Etherington wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqGDig8MWzY
