Leonard Cohen looks like...

Postby Climb2Safety » Sat Mar 07, 2009 1:14 am

Ron Paul. Has anyone ever seen the resemblance. I put a link to a picture of both Cohen and Paul below. I know one is a poet, the other a politician, but they look very similar. Perhaps I'm just getting excited for the Cohen tour. I will see some of you at the Nokia in Los Angeles on April 10. Have a great weekend.

It has probably been mentioned somewhere before, but young Leonard and young Dustin Hoffman look at least like brothers! 8)

Hey, they're both men of a certain age, have grey hair and wear dark suits...totally identical!

John, I was standing next to Dustin Hoffman at Zabars the day after the Beacon concert and I can report Leonard dresses a whole lot better! And is dramatically more relaxed!

As an aside, it was refreshing that the other customers in the shop made no attempt to disturb Dustin and gave him plenty of space. Would have been the same with Leonard .........so they are identical!

Hi leonardmtl,

Actually, I was referring to Ron Paul. It was a pastiche (French for piss-take, as Michael Chapman says!).

Talking of Dustin, I served him in a record store in 1970 (he bought James Taylor's "Sweet Baby James"). I was a big fan of his at the time, and thanked him for his movies. I particularly liked "the Graduate" and "John and Mary". He told me that he had just made a new one, which was "Little Big Man". Somehow, I've never got round to seeing that.

All good things, John E

Both of you met Dustin Hoffman? Ok, I'm officially jealous.

But how about Anthony Bourdain? At least in some pictures...

Nope. Not even remotely Ron Paul. Totally different appearances there.

I was going to say he looked like Mumbles from Dick Tracy---only to remember that was Dustin Hoffman anyway LOL. Brain failure.

Hi all,

I'm picking up late on this thread but thought I would offer my suggestions! Most similarities seem to be from Leonard's younger years. I agree with Anthony Bourdain (that would have been LC during the 80's and early 90's 8) ), the young Dustin Hoffman and most definitely think the young Al Pacino! However, at this time in his life I feel Leonard is truly unique. He is a sum of all his years...the best and the worst, as I guess is true for all of us. However, the years on Mt Baldy seem to have refined him and I honestly don't think anyone is comparable to him now as far as looks are concerned, and I personally find him a very good-looking man, with awesome eyes and an awesome smile!! :D :D :D

All the best,
Diana

ps...noooo resemblance to Ron Paul...........absolutely nada!!

Somehow those guys still seem to look similar, when you're not thinking about the beard and the colored hair of Mr. Pacino.
How did they do that? Same surgeon maybe? ;-)

Compared to them, Mr. Cohen always had (and still has) the best nasolabial folds. Period.

I totally agree with the young Dustin Hoffman (less so Bourdain?!), but I noticed a few months back that Leonard in the 90s is a dead ringer for Arthur Petrelli from Heroes (played by Robert Forster):

The mouth is slightly different but especially in film it's really noticable. Or is it just me?

LC should keep the robe and hakama. I always liked that look on him. When my mother competed (she studies Isshinryu Karate,) she wore the same thing and I always wanted hers LOL.

I love this thread! Especially the Telly Savalas bit...
I've always thought he looks like a young Dustin Hoffman - ever since my sleeves of Greates Hits and S&G's Graduate Sountrack sat next to each other one day...

..although looking at them now, Dustin's a bit too young in that pic...
