Re: 2007 Edmonton Leonard Cohen Festival
What a wonderful event this was again. If anyone here gets the chance to see any of the artists that made both the poetry evening and the musical tributes to Leonard so memorable, you would be fortunate indeed. I was particularly enthralled with the presentation by Sherry DWilson of Leonard's lesser known poems, but equally delighted with the early songs of Leonard as presented by Ido Vanderlaan. Crystal Plamonden, while admitting the challenge Leonard's work presented to her in some areas, was able to meet the challenge admirably . Her stage manager and bass player Kit Johnson, is a wonderful artist and the band was so perfectly professional that all of the individual artists benefitted by their presence. A job well done Karen and Kim!!!! What a great celebration of Leonard's birthday and work. Congratulations to the Cohen Nights Arts Society.
The International Festival next year looks promising indeed.
